Chris John has beaten Juan Manuel Marquez ... he has successfully defended his belt 9 times ... he also has a win over Derrick Gainer ... He's also undefeated ...

While Guerrero has lost once to a journeyman in Gamalile Diaz and was beat down by Orlando Salido ...

Guerrero sucks and I can't wait till he gets KTFO again ... maybe in a rematch with Salido.

Linares is the best at 126, John did not defeat Marquez, he got a gift decision and Marquez easily won that 9 rounds to 3, that's why he's not ranked #1.

    Interesting question.

I will say that, since John's close points win over Marquez (one that was disputed by the Marquez camp), John has been facing less than stellar opposition.

This, while Guerrero wins matches against steady if unspectacular opposition on American television, makes Guerrero ahead.

But just think of a fight between the two - it would be great. I doubt the Guerrero camp takes that chance anytime soon, though, especially if they have to take it in Indonesia (what Marquez did, honorably).

They have had him ranked at #1 for over a month now. Not sure why either; Guerrero KTFO of Litzau and suddenly he is the #1 contender???

A single lose should not bar anyone from being #1(even if it's to a journeyman) . Chris John has one notable victory over JMM, which many beleive was a robbery. I will not tell you what I think but I know Guerrero has fought better opposition barring JMM. You can't base your entire career on a fight that happend a long time ago. Chris John fight someone notable then you can have your #1 position.

Maybe, just maybe, it's because Guererro is about to leave Goosen to join Golden Boy Promotions. Ring magazine is a joke now, it has lost a ton of credibility ever since the purchase by Oscar.

Guerrero could really be #2 though. :D John is overrated and the division is shitty in general. Is Juarez even at 126 anymore?

yes, of course I did. I downloaded the fight, watched it carefully, and scored it for John 7 rounds to 5.

but regardless of my score, how can you say that Marquez won 9 rounds easily? that makes zero sense. Its easy to cry about the judges being corrupt just cause the fight is in Indonesia and the Mexican guy lost, but sometimes its better to watch the fight and judge it without bias.

Here are some post fight reports.

And here is my post on the fight.

2 of those links were done by asians, one by Scott Mallon, whom I used to communicate with on boxrec, he lives in Thailand and follows asian fighters only generally, I don't trust his score at all.

    The other two? Incompetence.

I'm really not surprised you scored it for John, you come up with some crazy scores and I wonder if you even use the official criteria sometimes. You're in the 5% that scored it for John, as per people who watched the whole fight, not people who heard the water trickle reports from pissed Marquez fans.

9 rounds to 3, 8 to 4 is fine. Divac had it 11-1 Marquez, that's getting ridiculous.

Linares would smash Guerrero ... and John would smash Guerrero as well ... I don't think that Guerrero has more stellar opposition than John ... I don't think wins over Litzau, Diaz, and Aiken grants much clout on "the ghosts" part.

He only has 2 defenses of that weak ass title ... and he's a KO waiting to happen.

I come up with crazy scores according to you but by some coincidence the judges' scores are almost always in line with mine.

And judges are consistently incorrect, save for a few consistent ones that nearly always get them spot on.

Boxing scoring has a set official criteria, there is a small bit of subjectivity, but not enough to make the difference for some of these crazy scores.
