So what ... he got knocked out ... it happens in the sport ... you run the risk of getting KO'd every time you step into the ring

It doesn't matter if the punches that Tarver and Johnson hit him with would of knocked out anyone, what they wouldn't anyway, the point is a prime RJJ would never of been caught flush like that, and who knows he might of even been able to take them shots in his prime but his punch resistance has diminished, along with his reflexes and stamina.

He's shot and you know it, so stop trying to convince everyone that he's not.

It's fine. As long as Fitz comes on here when Calzaghe's beat his ass, and tells us all Calzaghe has a W over a Jones in top form

It will still be completely laughable, but funny to see.

****in 43 year old Hopkins was weezing and puffing(and faking low blows), yet he was able to go 12 against Calzaghe. Calzaghe will not stop Jones. I went through this same **** before the Hopkins fight when Calzaghe fans swore he was gonna stop Hopkins. Please tell me the last time Calzaghe got a legit stoppage.

    Didn't you pick Hopkins?

Hopkins still has defence, and dirty tactics that tie a fighter up. Jones was getting tagged at will by Trinidad early on for christ sake :rofl

That's a podgy welterweight. How on earth he's dealing with an elite fighter, at near enough his own weight I've no idea. The point with Jones is that a lot of his defence was based around his reflexes, which are now failing, and his speed, which is now diminished.

You can't say that those punches wouldn't have landed on a prime Roy ...

Those shots were looping and something you couldn't see coming and thats how they knocked Roy out.

The over hand left from Tarver was like some Carlos Maussa **** ...

as far as Glenn Johnson's punch on Roy ... why don't you take it from Glenn's own words ... http://youtube.com/watch?v=NZyGTHUZkho

I think an accumulation stoppage is possible, especially if it goes late. RJJ isn't going to move like Hopkins because he has no legs so he will be stationary for Calzaghe.

So the question now becomes: Will RJJ simply settle and play it safe for 12 rounds and lose a wide UD or will he, at some point, step on the gas and go for the KO? Or will he simply pull a Hopkins and hope that Calzaghe runs into some of his shots while boxing for 12 rounds? The accumulation KO is most likely if RJJ pushes the gas, fails, is gased out, and Calzaghe fires away.

I personally don't think Calzaghe can beat any version of Jones .... he's just to skilled and schooled.

I rooted for Hopkins, I didn't pick him to win.

I don't need to argue this nonsense with you. Calzaghe hasn't had a legit stoppage in 3 years. Let's settle this with a simple bet. My money is on Jones not getting stopped. Name the stakes.

You are exactly right about Hopkins, despite his lack of stamina he was still constantly on the move making it difficult for Joe. Although I was brashly picking a Calzaghe stoppage in some threads, in my heart I knew it would go the distance, which is why I picked Calzaghe UD in the prediction thread

Jones won't do that. He seems to just stand there rooted to the canvas and try to do a Abraham/Winky-Wright. This is a very bad stylistic problem against Calzaghe.

It will get to the stage he's so tired, he won't even throw anything back and the ref will look seriously at it.

Mate, you're an idiot. Jones is shot. His handspeed, though still good, has markedly deteriorated. His footwork is miles slower. His ability to fight in anything more than sporadic spurts is gone.

What you mean is that you still think that Jones will beat Calzaghe. This would be a minority view, but argue along this line - give up on the Jones is not shot angle.

hav u even seen da tarver fight? he threw the punch wid his ****in eyes closed. i think if jones would hav lost shut out decisions to both of dem den maybe u got a case for him bein shot. he aint dunn yet. hopkins gave calzaghe trouble wid angles and straight rights. jones has alot more angles than hopkins and can kick the pace later in the fight (which is the only reason hopkins lost, he couldnt)

TFFP ... Evans Ashira, Peter Manfredo, Jeff Lacy, Mikkel Kessler, and Bernard Hopkins are all better than Roy Jones?
