I've saw people on reddit boxing and other forums mention he wouldn't be fast enough on offense for tank.I knew his power is only ok. I haven't had the chance to watch him but how does his hand speed and movement rank about 135ers and all boxers in general for that matter? Thanks in advance
He's fast enough to beat Tank for sure. I think he's the best at 135, the speed the combinations and punch placement remind me of one fighter.. The only thing in the back of my mind is how good his chin is. Its yet to be tested against a solid puncher.
We must not forget that Tank is pretty quick himself with skills and ring generalship. Shakur’s defence needs to be on point because nobody and I mean nobody needs to take to many punches from Tank.
Tank is all around a complete fighter, Shakur looks to be that much more of a complete fighter imo. Shakur wins if he can take tanks best shot.
His speed is good, Tank is a bit quicker but as Tank's fight with Garcia showed, speed isn't everything. I'd love to see this fight between too very skilled fighters. Shakur has called him out but admits Tank is the A-side and it's really down to what Tank wants to do next.
That is a real big if? I agree they are both complete fighters. Tank’s explosive power deceives some people into overlooking that he is a complete fighter.
I think that is a fight for next year or the year after. It will be an interesting and intriguing one to watch.
I think it's ok....obviously there are a fair few in the division with quicker. Shakur himself has a few qualities better than his hand speed, #1 for me is his defence (both inside and outside) #2 is his accuracy and timing and #3 is his jab.
Judging by an interview I saw where Shakur said “Tanks power is real…ugh I mean, I can tell from the type of people he fights that his power is real..” I get a vibe that he’s felt Tanks power before in sparring and there may be a bit of a psychological effect there… but he caught himself and switched it up, the way he said the above statement was a bit suspect, lol. After all, they both have trained in the DMV area.
I saw Tank Davis and Shakur Stevenson fight as amateurs, they were two of the most impressive fighters I've ever seen. I saw Tank twice, once at the GG Regionals in Waldorf, Md., the other time in his last amateur fight on Pennsylvania Ave. in Baltimore, both times against the same opponent. I saw Stevenson fight in Laurel, Md. Tank and Stevenson were both fast, the thing that I remember most about both of them was their speed. It didn't take a talent scout to see that both of them would probably be champions in a few years. I didn't even realize how big of a puncher Tank was at the time because his speed over shadowed everything else, Stevenson's speed was also the first thing I noticed. I don't know who would win if they fought as pros, but whoever wins has to be exceptionally good and whoever loses is still extremely good.
Offensively Shakur is quick off the release as well as the counter, he's not lightning "fast" per se. And on defense he's also quick to react defensively. But beyond his quickness, he has game changing timing and the way his mind processes that is the most important thing. As of yet, I haven't seen him in the ring with anyone who thinks faster................
Shakur has faster reflexes of the two and if they fight will be the faster man of the two in the ring.
