This thread cracks me up. The butt hurt is strong. Selling PPV does not mean you are a better boxer. Usyk isn’t the PPV star but in terms of fights and skill he is way ahead of Canelo.
What the ? No one's arguing that Canelo is better P4P because he's a PPV star. Please pay more attention to what is being dicussed and the point of this topic. I've made it clear that I'm about comparing each fighter's skills.
Honestly that would be an insult to those guys. He’s just a chubby 5’7” dork that snarls into the camera like he’s hard while wearing overly baggy clothes to hide his out of shape frame. Lol
I like Canelo so I won't bash him but Footwork? Really? Great footwork isnt just supposed to look nine. It means getting you into position where you have an advantage over your opponent. Canelo spent the majority of the first fight on the ropes meaning his footwork(even if it looked nice) was INEFFECTIVE GGG, when he decided to move and Canelo became the stalker, managed to stay off the ropes so his footwork, despite looking more crude, was actually more effective Cotto had great footwork he managed to stay off the ropes in the maragrito rematch and Canelo fight. Canelos looked similar vs GGG but was far less effective because it didn't keep him off the ropes. Also you clearly don't watch enough of Usyk if you think he can't move.
Usyk is clearly a much better boxer with proven pedigree. He has rapidly cleaned out the Cruiser Weight division which had some good competition. He fights anywhere, against anyone at any weight without asking for catch weights or other unethical demands. He isn't a proven PED taker and wins his fights without requiring the judges to win him fights. Let's just simplify it as Canelo is a marketing construct while Usyk is the real deal.
Oh it's you, one of you're lounge buddies threw you under the bus ... It's not my fault you're gooFy, SOWWEY!
I don't think he is above canelo either. Had a hard nights work with bellew. Struggled with breidas. I think usyks slightly overrated on here because people appreciate his very high skill level. Mostly the footwork. He's more pleasing to the eye. I don't think he is above canelo, golovkin, inoue or lomachenko imo. He's just the current favorite atm. I still think Joshua's arguably got a better CV as well. Parker, povetkin, whyte, klitchko. Its good going and probably better than breidas, gassiev and bellew, Huck pound for pound.
On paper, he's maybe not. But we all watch it with our eyes - not with Boxrec. Canelos is behind Crawford and Lomachenko too, for that matter.
