that is not quite accurate and unrealistic or fair... But Turpin is overrated, he came exactly at a time when ALL the British Bigmen were wrapping up and outside of C ockell there was No Real British Bigboy hope, yes there was Williams & Gardner, but they knew No Titles were coming from them, so the Black Ban had finally been pushed to be lifted...

yes there were good folk in Britain calling for it's obliteration, but as Mills & Woodcock were winding down, McAvoy had already retired, the Need was crucial and the push became necessary 'quickly', Dick was steered into position, for the Up & Coming Randolph, giving Britain at least 2 Hopes in C ockell & Turpin, with outside chance on the two HW's.

It ALWAYS about Money, National Pride & Top Weight Classes, where the Money & Prestige lay... the Home of Boxing as we know it, would no longer settle for the Inadequate Bigmen Notoriety.

Turpin was a contender given a chance and that is Boxing Powerhouses at Play.

Well yes it might have lessened over the years but Turpin was hero worshipped for that win. I think only later on the stories of Robinson taking him lightly surfaced. And people forget to this day about Turpin's other losses, before and after.
Id guess he'd still figure highly in a top ten off British boxers. Not in mine.

64 Day Hero was on YouTube but it isn't anymore.

But it's available on the BFI site to viewers in the UK. Google '64 Day Hero' and it's the very first search result.
