For all the talk about Povetkin being Wilder's mandatory, it should be Wlad by any half way reasonable standard. Forget about their respective career resume differences, lets just assume that in order not to fight his brother, Wlad acquiesced to not being rated by WBC while VK was active.

But Bryant Jennings was Wilder's mandatory before Povetkin. Wlad beat Bryant Jennings while Jennings was mandatory. How is Wlad not Wilders mandatory? After the Fury fight, assuming he wins, there's no way the next title fight should be anything other than Wlad Wilder, or else Wlad is getting tremendously screwed.

The politics in the sport are a joke. There should have been a unification fight for all the belts when Stiverne was champion. It is amazing that Wlad has been able to unify the WBA\IBF\WBO when you think about it. Too many fighters want to win a belt and just have a bunch of pointless easy defenses instead of unifying.

Very true. You would think they'd want to use the leverage they would have with the belt's to have a huge cash out unification bout with Wlad, though.

Klitschko doesn't talk trash, so hard to say what went wrong, since the only reason he took on Jennings in his voluntary defense was to get a fight for WBC belt.

Wilder always talks a big game in terms that he wants a unification fight, but with Haymon behind him, I don't see it happening.

Also, from the way Klitschko answers reports when asked about unification, I think he kinda gave up on it. He says it would be great if it happens, but he is fine if it doesn't happen.

In case people haven't noticed yet, sanctioning bodies are a joke and the main reason boxing is losing ground to MMA

Have you seen UFC's PPV numbers since 2012? They have been going down every year and their biggest star is a woman. They are in some big trouble and that isn't even factoring in all the failed PED tests and domestic violence problems they have.

because there is not logic in boxing. the ABC's are run by a bunch of clowns, and the WBC seem content in letting Wilder fight a bunch of winos.

If Wlad were made Wilder's mandatory, Haymon and co would just call for a purse bid and we'd have the Kovalev situation all over again...

UFC is to boxing what the XFL was to pro football.

I think MMA/UFC has seen its popularity reach its highest potential and is now on the decline.

I like both, but MMA has definitely peaked, it will probably decline in popularity as well.

Uh, really not easy to understand. Keeping the most deserving person, not to mention the most marketable, boxer from contending for the title is really inscrutable.
