If Kessler had lost Saturday's fight, he would have 2 consecutive losses and a huge cash cow would have gone down the drain. There is no way Sauerland would allow that to happen when he can easily do something to stop it. This is just one of countless examples of blatant robberies in boxing. The TV commentators rearely say anything about them. The way judges are paid is through "honoraria". A honorarium is basically a gift that is sent to a judge or referee. It's obviously illegal to pay a judge to vote your way, but there is no law against giving somebody a gift. These "gifts" are tantamount to payments. When a judge gets rolexes and other gifts with a welcome card that says "Sauerland promotions" on it, it's difficult to score the fight for the other boxer. This is how the Italian football club Juventus bribed referees and linesmen and paved the way for the team to win consecutive Serie A titles a few years ago. It all came out into the open, and refs and linesmen admitted in court to having received very expensive gifts from top Juventus executive Luciano Moggi. And no, I'm not a Froch fan. I watched the fight 3 times wondering what on Earth everyone else was seeing. Try watching it without the commentary. The British commentators are all part of the business, so they're obviously biased as well. Turn off the volume, guys, and open your eyes.
But didn't you see the effort that Kessler put forth? Yes, he was missing most of his punches, and yes Froch was outboxing him and beating the **** out of him, but what about his effort? Shouldn't he get points for that?
Froch did loose thee fight, by at least 2 rounds...although i thought one off the scorecards was a little wayward. Its been this way in boxing forever. Dont worry, when Void has finished with the drug cheats, he going to clean up on the judging...el oh el
Yes, pressing the action should be taken into consideration. Like the Hagler vs Leonard fight, whioch I scored for Hagler because that was effective aggression. Hagler actually landed the same number of punches as Leonard, throwing a few more. That robbery was to give the title to Leonard, the younger, more famous and more likable fighter who would have made more money for the promoters. But almost every time Kessler moved forward, Froch made him miss and counterpunched him. At times, Froch schooled Kessler. Froch landed lean, hard punches. I took Kessler's effort into consideration, and still scored it for Froch all 3 times I watched the fight. The one time I purposely tried to force myself to score the fight in Kessler's favour, I failed and scored it for Froch by 2 points.
Email Floyd Mayweather Jr. I recall one amazing gift decision he got Actually, Guzman might work as well... Or Kermit Cintron.... You could just go to a lot of the source and talk to Don King though. I seriously think it's just a mafia run sport, and a lot of these big fights are either fixed, bought off, etc. Not all the time, but think most of us can tell the difference with the crazy scorecards, HORRIBLE referring, boxers looking like total **** (meanwhile they looked good 3-4 months before that), etc.
Yes, but Kessler is Danish, and a lot of people consider him a prettyboy. Shouldn't that be considered in the fight too? I mean, yes he got beat up pretty bad, and yes "technically" he lost the fight because of the reasons you stated, but I think the fact that he put forth a lot of effort, (even though it was ineffective), he's Danish, and he's considered a pretty boy is enough for him to win the fight. Don't you think so?
117-111 was pretty far out, but some of y'all are acting like it was a robbery. It wasn't. It was a close fighter in which the aggressor (effective or not) got the nod. No biggie. Kessler basically won on ring generalship, because neither man was throwing anything clean or effective.
Standard European scroing it seems. Throw lots of punches, landing or not, crisp/tight or sloppy, power or fluff, it doesnt matter. Just out-punch the other man. You win. Calzaghe is clearly the GOAT. :smoke
Tilleman's card, especially when you see it round by round looks like a blatant fix, that combined with the Reid Ottke disgrace does make a good case for the argument that he is on the Sauerlands payroll.
I've watched the fight with the Danish and with the British commentators. While the Danish commentator obviously was hanging from Kessler's ballsack more than he ought the British commentators were embarrassing. They hardly only spoke when Froch was on the offensive.
