Cortez was pathetic in this fight.... as he is in most of his fights. he keeps warning hatton even when floyd was clearly doing the holding and elbowing.

then floyd turns his back from hatton... hatton hits the ropes (not pbf) and cortez takes a point in round 6. a round hatton was winning.

yeah I feel you. They show this video and they think, oh well Floyd is started and deserved to get butted. I was watching to see if Floyd would use his elbow in this fight and he only used it twice or maybe 3 times and his elbow never touched him, just his forearm.
And the way he did it, you could tell he was trying to remember not to do it, but it's such a habit now that he can't really stop it

How many times did Cortez warn him about elbows in that fight? Cortez is on the payroll.

Slick is synonymous with sneaky.. Most of these so called "slick" fighters are some very sneaky fighters.. You cant really blame them when the ref lets them get away with it.. This is their job and most of these judges are very incompetent when it comes to this, or just prefer this style of fighting.. Straight shot then grab, tying one arm on the rope while the ref is on the other side, sneaky elbows, stepping on feet, bending below the waist, turning your back to an opponent, shoving off.. It really takes away from the honest fighters who apply their trade honestly.. but the blame is on the system not the fighters..

This is one case where pictures lie. Floyd does not throw strikes with his elbow the way people are making this out to be. Floyd uses his elbows the create space, and maintain distance. Usually by putting the elbow/forearm in his opponents face or neck. Where the head goes... the body follows. I have an amateur I am training right now, and I am instructing him to do the same based on what I have observed from Floyd. this is especially effective for guys with long arms the like distance when they fight.
