For me it's 60/40 Wilder/Ortiz. Ortiz is old, and I believe Wilder will be very cautious and keep him pegged back with his jab, and nick him on a UD.
I actually think Ortiz is going to win. I will give either winner the credit they are due, but if Wilder makes sloppy mistakes like he has done and keeps doing then I see Ortiz catching him and shattering glass.
Ortiz has the tools but Wilder... he has the style. What Ortiz struggles the most is with lead hand dominance and following an opponent.
If the Wilder from the first Stiverne match shows up, Ortiz has a 70/30 chance, and sadly for King Kong, that's the version that WILL show up. But if Wilder loses his marbles and starts windmilling, then it becomes a 50/50 affair.
This is it. If Wilder has worked on his footwork and jab, he should UD the slow-ass Ortiz. If Wilder has worked on his twitter skills and windmilling, Ortiz will KO him. I'm assuming that Wilder's team realises that he's in with a beast that can switch his lights off with one punch, and that they have taken Ortiz seriously and prepared accordingly. I'd say that 60/40 is probably spot on.
Ortiz looked great at 240lbs right now, in the end he will show up with 230-35lbs and this looks like the Ortiz who knocked the **** out of Jennings two years ago. Ortiz will be in shape, of course Wilder has his advantage in terms of speed but this is not that important i think. Ortiz has the style and the abilities to trouble Wilder and to defeat him. I think its pretty much 60/40 for Wilder so the chances for an "upset" is high.
Extremely likely IMO I have him down as the clear favourite. Wilder can't deal with a world class southpaw not a chance in hell.
Ortiz hasn't looked great recently. Could be down to age, could be down to lack of motivation fighting journeymen. Post Jennings I wouldn't have gave Wilder much of a shot but now I put him as slight favourite. IMO he should get a load of credit if he gets the W
Ortiz looked far better in his recent fights than Wilder did against Szpilka. How can anyone knock Ortiz in his last fights. He won every single round against shithouse Scott and Dave Allen. When was the last time Luis Ortiz lost a round?
60/40. Two clear top 5 hws. Winner is head and shoulders the #2 HW in the world. Stop the excuses and just give the winner his fair due.
