No chance. Haymon controls both. Haymon knows the Joshua fight is in the pipeline for Wilder Why would he put him in with an old unmarketable Cuban if there was any reasonable xhance of ortiz winning. Ortiz isn't winning, even he knows that, it was a condition of getting the fight.
People are sleeping on Ortiz's amateur career! 300+ fights! Dude is experienced as hell and can crack, Wilder is going to sleep and then goodbye idiotic youtube commenters and cancer esb threads.
It is a fair point of view. But i think if we considering that Ortiz is preparing seriously, losing weight, looks in great shape right now this ain't gonna happen that the fight will be fixed by Haymon.
Very possible, this is a big step up for Wilder. Ortiz is past his best but even this old Ortiz would beat anyone Wilder has fought at this point. But Wilder is still the favourite to me, but not by much, like 60/40 or 55/45 in Wilder's favour. Fact is if either of them get blown out early it wouldn't be a shock. Wilder hasn't beaten anyone good and has huge technical flaws and Ortiz hasn't really faced a puncher, who knows if he can take a decent punch or not.
Sure. Ortiz is going to throw the fight. He would be guaranteed at a minimum a million dollar payday, and probably several of them, if he won, but yeah, he's going to take a fall. That makes sense. Fans really need to think through some of their wacky conspiracy ideas, but I guess that would detract from the goal of hating on whichever boxer they don't like.
Ortiz timing should have him winning this but Wilder can get very awkward with the way he throws. I see him leaving his chin open and Ortiz banging in a straight left and glass everywhere but Wilders speeds and awkwardness could see if having some success. Ortiz looks like he should have a good chin and I'm not truly sold that Wilder is as big a puncher as he's made out but styles makes fights and these too should gel well. Ortiz should win in terms of skills and experience but maybe his shot has come too late
I've gone from thinking Ortiz has a very good chance to the realization I think if Wilder stays outside, and throws long shots and moves, Ortiz will never be able to catch him. I've seen some things in Ortiz that lead me to believe if he plods after Wilder like he did vs. Malik Scott, he's gonna lose a wide UD. One thing about Wilder that is underrated is he can move those skinny legs for 12 rounds. Of course, if Wilder stops and tries to trade, I think Ortiz wins.
Very likely. Skilled southpaw Szpilka and hard puncher Sconiers gave Wilder a lot of problems. Ortiz is those two combined. Actually most guys give Wilder problems. Stiverne's strategy of stand-still-and-do-nothing is probably the only thing that didn't trouble him.
I favor Ortiz 65/35 over Wilder. What could make it interesting is if Wilders length allows him to dictate from the outside.
