From what I have seen of his pro fights, and record, Hughie has never been stopped as a pro. Has Hughie been stopped as a amateur though? Hughie won the youth world championships, do you think he is being underrated? Do you give much chance to Parker stopping Hughie?
Hard to say anything about Hughie other than he couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag - this is a huge step up for him so much like when Tyson fought Wlad he's very much an unknown quantity at world level. Note* Obviously Wlad was a bigger step up than Parker but Tyson had also taken on better opposition than Hughie has too.
I'd say no. Based on the styles and Parker's most recent performances. But part of the prediction is a leap faith in what I presume Hughie has in ability. Nobody really knows how good Hughie is. There's enough for me to believe that Hughie is an extremely live dog in this fight.
Hughie Fury is only a poor man's Tyson Fury, that's what he is, he is basically Tyson Fury, only with less punching power, less height and reach, less skills and less confidence. Parker should knock him out, this should be a warm-up fight for someone who is considered to be a top 5 heavyweight by most.
i give him 40% chance to k.o him or lose this fight bc Parker hasnt learned to fight out of his opponents pace.If hughie doesnt present a certain threat ,i dont think you see a knock out here.
So you would say this is a 60/40 fight in Parker's favour? Who do you think has the better stamina in this fight? And what tools do you think Hughie has to trouble Parker?
Parker would be the favored. Only thing Hughie has is a good boxing IQ. Thats what he will win with, smart positioining ,thats where Parker could be beat here. Paker only fights at one opponents pace, this is weird match bc Hughie really isnt a proven top 10 fighter, but Parker isnt exactly showing skills he should be either.. Really the main factor here is the trainers,if hughie actually does have a better night,he can pull off an upset here,it doesn't seem Parkers winning rounds clearly ,as opposed to point fighter Hughie . I like Parker by UD.
It could happen as this is a step up in class for Hughie. Another thing nobody seems to have mentioned so far is Hughie's inactivity, he will have not fought in 17 months when he steps in the ring with Parker, not exactly the best preparation for your first title shot. While Hugie is stepping in with the unknown by stepping up in class, Parker is also stepping in with the unknown by facing a boxer more mobile and skilled than anyone he has faced so far. He's used to facing men that come to him, or big slow lugs he can get to easily and load up on. Can Parker cut off the ring against Hughie? If Hughie isn't too rusty I think his variety and superior boxing skills will see him win a decision. I think Hughie's movement will be key, he won't allow Parker to set to let his combinations go, he'll struggle to let his hands go against a moving target and will run out of ideas.
Parker has power but he chosen to box from the backfoot and not sit down on his punches since moving up to world level... Has to power to trouble anyone in the division really, but he hasn't fought that way in quite some time. So unlikely that we'll see a KO here... Best case scenario for him is a close decision win.
Could get robbed on cards, but it's a great matchup, as Parker will have to be the come forward fighter, I'm really looking forward to it
