His inability to stop Andy Ruiz despite landing flush on him and landing with some Hollywood combinations in terms of entertainment did more to harm his claim to be a legit World champion HW than anything else. In the end there was only 1 point either way in the fight against Ruiz, and had Ruiz not been so out of shape and allowed his work rate to drop to the point of losing close rounds, he would have been the clear winner. Had Parker had world class power Ruiz would have been stopped. AJ & Wlad would definitely have stopped him (and thats the true HW world champion level now) As you say the Cojanu UD win was more understandable. Hughie with the Tyson Fury esque tap and run style will win the decision.
Huggie couldn't keep Rudenko or Kassi off him. He took unnecessary shots considering you lot think he can dance from a distance and point his way to an easy victory against Parker. He was cut up against Kassi ffs and looked awful. 18months later all of a sudden he will walk thru his massive step up world title fight with ease??? Yeah Right. Parker will turn this kid inside out and Daddy in the corner will be looking concerned from the 1st round.
And afterwards big T. Fury will step into the ring and announce his "comeback" to avenge his cousin's loss.
I claimed I haven't investigated the furys enough to really know which is better. The claims I made were the claims that has always come from the furys, that hughie is the much better fighter. This fight will tell us all we need to know of hughie. If the furys are at all serious this should be a clear hughie UD. Time will tell
I am biased so will stay out of this one, I don't know a lot about Hughie but will be supporting Parker. I am however a fan of Tyson, if he boxes like Tyson then I expect him to give Parker a lot of problems.
I can assure you the Furys are deadly seriously pal. Hughie hasn't been running up and down hills, chopping lumber, swimming in lakes, herding cattle, etc, etc because he was bored. Hughie isnt training like a Spartan for nothing. Hughie means business and is coming to take the Heavyweight Title September 23rd, Manchester Arena tickets still available.
Andy Ruiz and Takam are both guys very well known to have epic chins... Ruiz has never been hurt before so you don't know what it takes to knock him out. Takam has only ever been hurt by a perfectly timed and clean shot in the 10th round when he was gassing by a juiced Povetkin who is arguably one of the hardest punchers in the sport, partly going from people who have done some rounds with the likes of him , Wilder and other guys On that note we don't know what it takes to drop Hughie so if he is wearing an iron jaw then it's going to take some doing which may be hard. In the UK it may be hard to get a fight where Hughie isn't allowed to run tap and hold for 12 rounds so a proper fight where he is likely to get caught may be a far call which would be a shame. Here is hoping Hughie comes to actually fight or at least is forced to and then we will actually have some fun things to discuss whatever the outcome. I think Hughie claiming he will KO Parker easy is the funniest thing about the build up to this fight
There are a lot of unknown variables in this fight, mostly to do with Hughie. Is he recovered, is he able to make the step up, can he take Parker's shots? Peter Fury is a very smart man so I have no doubt he'll prepare Hughie accordingly, but sometimes a guy's just not good enough, and nothing I've seen on Hughie has shown me he possesses the same flair and brilliance of his older cousin. Saying that, Parker's look very limited in his last few fights and has more or less been winning on athleticism and conditioning alone. I have a feeling he could get outboxed here and look totally lost if he doesn't prepare accordingly. It's an interesting fight. An exceptional physical talent with mediocre trainer vs a mediocre physical talent with exceptional trainer. I lean towards Parker at the moment, but he'll need to be on his A game to avoid a potential upset in the UK.
