Dirrell is fighting this Saturday on Showtime. I'm excited. He's one of those guys you can get excited about because of his raw talents.

Yeah, I was really impressed by Dirrell last fight against Hanshaw: blistering speed. If that wasn't a fluke, and if he has focus, he could go a long way in the SMW division. The next couple of fights should determine where he stands. If he can dominate a top 10 fighter, I can't see him not getting a title shot.

I'm surprised Ward isn't at least battling for a minor title now, I mean Berto has one and that is by far a deeper division. Ward should either get down to MW and start campaigning there and take Abraham's trinket or he should start making moves at SMW, but he is stalling his career.

yeah and they've (Ward & Dirrell) have been in the game longer than Gamboa, yet he's on pace to have a title shot by years end or sometime next year.

yeah but Berto won the WBC WW title, I would expect Ward to atleast be going or having one of the major belts at SMW.

With Calzaghe, Kessler, and Bute in the division ... will there be any room for those guys?

I believe that Ward is on his way to the WBC strap which means that he would have to lock up with guys like Jermain Taylor and Jeff Lacy.

They're going to have to match up with those guys at some point in time.

I would think Ward would have fought Bute or Antony Mundine

I'd like to see Ward against Pascal. It would make for an entertaining fight, but also is one he could win.

I don't think he's ready for Taylor or Bute/Andrade yet.

Ward - Pascal would be a fun fight. Hard to see either camp taking that kind of a fight right now though for the money that would be offered.

If Dirrell can keep tapping the fire he brought out against Hanshaw, he gets a legitimate title years before Ward. It's a long way from Ravelo to wins over the top 10 at 168.

Dirrell and Ward would have to fight guys who had either had a title or have been in title situations.

    Alejandro Berrio
    Edison Miranda
    Jermain Taylor
    Jeff Lacy
Inkin v Pascal winner or loser
    Andrade
    Manfredo Jr
    Bika

then you have guys like ... Pavlik, Abraham, and Sturm ... who'll be waiting to make that jump up in weight to compete for a title.

How long before Ward and Dirrell fight eachother? If they can both get to the mountain top, that would be an interesting story of 2 speedy 2004 olympic medalists squaring off, and it might well happen cuz they're ruffly the same age too.

Who would win? I personally haven't seen enough of them, especially of Dirrell, to make a call. Anyone who has?
