How long before Gatti slips into the abyss of "pugilistica dementia"?

Let's not forget that Gatti had in his best defense his relentless aggressive punching style - 13 wins inside 3 rounds in first 16 pro fights and I have seen some of those most impressive, far more impressive wins than Hoya's, Mayweather's early-goings - now, I do believe he started taking too much in the Tracy Patterson fights, the Wilson Rodrigues' and even though he came back from a pounding in round 4 against Gabe Ruelas with a one punch kayo, he should have stopped when he lost to Manfredi, and Ivan Robinson twice... Basically, he kept on fighting just to entertain the blood-seeking crowds in NJ, with Chuck Zito, the "AC-DC Thunder" entrance blasters, "You Gatta Believe" non-sense posters... He may probably get punch drunk just like Ward will but Gatti always swelled up, got cut quite easily and that can be misleading - he had a horrible cut in the lip against Gomez but he took a whole lot of punishment before against Baldo too.

I watched a doc on Ward focussing around the last Gatti fight and it was painful to watch both guys. Medieval stuff

    Very serious topic.

The fighters like Gotti, Ali, Louis, etc all fought for us fans.

And we as fans, all know the downside.

Jerry Quarry in the late 70's allowed MRI scans of his brain to be published in Sports Illustrated showing the damage that had occurred
    in his career.

May God bless all the boxers that have the courage to step into that ring.

I hope it isn't too bad. But it will happen, it is happening.

I hope Mayweather and Klitschko never develop that.

It is sad, its not a question of if... its actually a question of when. I hope that the scarring of his brain doesnt start effecting him until his late 50's or so... but no doubt it will be sooner

Too much punishment in a career. His heart is what done him in.

Nobody is insulting Arturo and you should not get offended. Tell me why did Gatti go after Angel Manfredi like that when he had been dropped and badly cut or took punches like that from Mickey when Buddy was asking him to box on HBO's B.A.D. classic - because he is more of a man than we can ever expect to be? I mean, we are ignorant and moronic but he stands straight up and at punching range against Floyd and goes right into exchanging with Baldo? Alright, Gatti is not coward scum like we r but what does that have to do with the danger he can be in now?

i get what your saying but his was giving as good as he was getting against manfredy,he stood against ward bcoz micky slowed him with body shots&mcgirt told him to BOX with mayweather,he gave arturo a plan for mayweather that was tantamount to professional suicide, yea alot of times he stood & traded when not a 100 percent nessacery but hes like mab&morales when their hurt they go on the attack,it was just his instincts.

I'm saying Buddy asked Arturo to box with Ward - when he presented his side against Mayweather and tried to jab, God that was stupid... Buddy saved Arturo from further damage by stopping him after that sixth... So why did he suggest in the post-fight interview that the problem was with the weight ( 140 pounds) and moved against Baldo? Took another beating and still wanted to trade and catch Gomez... Thankfully for him, Larry Hazzard intervened.

in the 1st&3rd ward fights gatti boxed until ward hurt him to the body at which point he had to stand and trade,in the 2nd fight gatti boxed from start to finish bcoz he wasnt hurt to the point where his legs were weakened.as for mcgirt saving him against floyd he shoulda pulled him out after the 4th,gatti moved up from 140 bcoz at the time it was the best&toughest division in boxing whereas 147 was weak in comparison he must have known that if he wanted to be succesful his best chance was to move to 147.
