Gatti was a world champion. His best weight was jr.lightweight.People forget this.He beat a very good boxer to win the title. He defended it against very good boxers. No he isn't an alltime great boxer but he is far from an overrated bum.He was a world class athlete who was a champion at one point of his career and fought on when he should have retired. Not many people hit as hard as Gatti did at jr.lightweight.He could really punch.

Yeah, at his best he was class. I just wish he'd controlled his weight and stayed in the lighter divisions.

Muhammad Ali, Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Beau Jack and, more recently, Jimmy Ellis, Floyd Patterson (who resigned from the New York State Athletic Commission because of his deteriorating memory), Bobby Chacon, Jerry Quarry, Mike Quarry, Wilfredo Benitez, Emile Griffith, Willie Pep, Freddie Roach, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Meldrick Taylor. All suffer...

I watched a documentary on Jack Dempsey and he seemed fine mentally all the way until his death. I saw interviews and everything and he was more alert then anyone I know that age.

Anyway, some people are affected and some aren't, even guys in some epic wars are still all there in their old age, and they had much worse health proviions back then, not to mention less padded gloves. You can never know how it's going to affect you, Micheal J. Fox has parkinsons too and I didn't see him taking any blows to the head. These guys got to live out there dreams and personally I'd be willing to risk it either/or.

I heard him recently in a radio interview and its obvious he's taken some damage but its not THAT bad, yet.
