    Agree

The short right upper cut to make just enough room for the left hook that scored the knockdown was a thing of beauty.

He's an african american with one half decent win

That qualifies him for to 5 automatically

Prime lara would have beat him convincingly imo.

If he beats Charlo, hes definitely in my top 10.

    Likewise if Charlo beats Hurd

    Clean, effective.
    Blocked, much

I saw many of the earlier rds tight, while Lara's 1-2 counter and turn offense to defense to offense style was on full display.
    Same as we're used to.

But MOST of the punches thrown were Hurd and while MANY were partially blocked/parried, many were clean enough to push Lara into complete retreat and reset.
Hurd controlled the tempo and the distance and was the aggressor through out.
The rds you say were arguably all Lara, were far less impressive than vs Alvarez.

Hurd just made it look better than Alvarez did and left no room for robbery talk.

Imo Hurd did better against Lara than Canelo did, and Hurd isn't on that tainted meat either. Canelo gets in lots of top 10 P4P lists :deal:

I don't know if I'd put him in a p4p Top 10 list yet, but he can't be that far off based on the fact that he's partially unified and now holds a (legit, imo) win over a long reigning, respected titleholder. I think his skill-set is awfully underrated, too. He can use the jab effectively to work his way into range, throws nice uppercuts in close and occasionally as a counter, and has a knack for being able to find the body pretty consistently. He sometimes wastes some motion defensively, but keeps his head off the line and doesn't get tagged as cleanly as often as you'd expect for someone who fights on the front foot so often. Like you said, Lara's connect percentage was a lot lower than normal.

I think it will either be someone who can outwork him or indeed, someone who is a monster puncher, to beat him. Those who simply try to outbox Hurd do so at their peril.

I found nothing controversial about the fight and I too feel Lara’s been given the raw end at times during his career. I also don’t believe Hayman needs to interject much of his energy into marketing someone like Hurd. Lara is still and will always be supremely skilled however we all know this doesn’t equate to popularity within the masses.

That was far from a robbery, 2/3 close rounds interpreted differently shouldn’t be considered a robbery. I’ll add that I’m more of a sweet science fan myself but can’t deny Hurds determination and passion in there it’s entertaining.

You’re clueless; Interestingly enough half the people I know in boxing feel the same way about Eastern European fighters. Personally speaking I think both sides are just projecting their insecurities. You have no idea how it is growing up as a man of color in America (I’m assuming) so it’s best to leave the subject for a non boxing forum, you can spew your ignorance elsewhere.

Im not big on the kid myself, but you can't hate him for his size. If I was a big guy I would def be trying to make a lower weight. You can't hate a guy for playing the game with God's given gift.

I wouldn’t mind a rematch but it should happen after a fight with Charlo. I found nothing controversial about the decision, however, I won’t argue that is was a tight and extremely close fight.
