How long before Linares climbs up the ranks and into the p4p list?

He's one of the most aesthetically pleasing fighters in the sport. Has he got any substance to him? I dont know, I'm reserving judgement until he beats someone of quality.

Good fighter. Why is he in Japan? Did he just want to train there? I'm interested in the story on that.

The guy has an ok resume for someone who should be challenging for some sort of title soon. Can't say I have seen the Salgado fight but thats a potential worrying point. Give him a couple more fights and I'd actually like to see him take on Robert Guerrero. I guess when he fights some like Guerrero or Soto (and if he wins) he will really be considered as someone in the top 25 P4P? Can't really go any further than saying that to be honest. He may not be a top 10 man.

He makes for pleasing to watch fighter however, hopefully he steps up in comp. I'd like to know more about his Japan adventure too.

i don't know man. He got tapped on the chin and went down like a sack of potatoes against Salgado. I'm hoping it was one of those weird circumstances, but he might have a 100% glass chin.

His Japan adventure is pretty similar to that of fighters like Roman Gonzalez and Hugo Cazares. You cant get a deal in north/central America, you go to Japan. The unfortunate thing for Linares was, the Salgado fight was like his send-off, his 'going away present', if you will, to Japan before he went to the US under Golden Boy to be moulded into a star. And we all know how that turned out.................................................................

He used to be a hot topic here. Now, we don't hear any news from him anymore. Is he actively fighting in Japan or just training there?

He lost to Juan Carlos Salgado, who subsequently lost the title in his first defence to Takashi Uchiyama, argueably the best super-feather in the world now. While Linares moved up to kightweight and has got decent wins against past prime Rocky Juarez and a shot Jesus Chavez.

Yeah I've just watched it on YT. He gets tapped and goes down, looks ok when he gets to his feet to be fair to him, then looks at his balls and gets rushed being genuinely hurt in the process. I'd be worried about him fighting someone like Marquez who even at lightweight has a hammer of a right hand. I guess we will find out more with time.

 Not according to Boxrec! (On a serious point, I actually might watch some of this Uchiyama when I have time though, his record looks half decent.)

    I suppose they have Burns.

In all seriousness, Uchiyama is #1. The only time he's looked iffy is in his last fight where he got dropped due to overconfidence. Very exciting fighter, I'm loving the Japanese boxing scene at the moment, better than anywhere else in the world lately.
