That’s your theory trying to discredit Spence. However it falls flat because Jerry JONES won’t host Spence’s if he was not big box office. Spence sells out bringing over 40,000 close to 50,000 fans to the Cowboys stadium whereas Bud can’t sell flies in Omaha, Nebraska. Spence also sells out New York, Las Vegas and California. You clearly have issues with Spence and PBC but one thing for sure is PBC fighters get paid. Also Spence has consistently sold over 300,000 PPVs in his fights. While Bud is messing up Spence is going to move up and set up a match with Canelo down the line.
You do realize that Jerry Jones's AT&T Stadium sells tickets for tours of the stadium, right? This means that people will literally partake in anything that the stadium has to offer, even if it's empty. "40,000 close to 50,000 fans" attend fights at AT&T Stadium, where Spence happens to fight. They are not there specifically to see Spence. I doubt 40,000 sports (non-boxing) fans would know who Spence was if he walked up to them on the street. They'd probably think he's just a black man with money, a rapper maybe. Let's dive deeper into your statement that "Spence also sells out New York, Las Vegas, and California." Bud routinely sells out his hometown arena. Meanwhile, Spence, more like AT&T Stadium, attracts about 40,000 fans, about half capacity. Here are the actual attendance figures for each fighter in New York. Spence vs Porter at Barclays Center: 13,058. Crawford vs washed up Khan at Madison Square Garden: 14,091 Actual numbers for Las Vegas, for each fighter's most recent fight in Vegas. Spence vs Phil Lo Greco, in support of Porter vs Broner: about 8,000. Bud vs Porter: 11,568. One more thing: By the time Spence got around to beating Leonard Bundu, four fights after Lo Greco, Bud was already an undisputed champion, with 6 defenses under his belt. Men lie, women lie, I think Haymon lies, but numbers don't lie. That said, Spence should not be an unquestioned A-side in negotiations with Crawford. I like Spence. You're right though, I do have issues with PBC. I also have issues with PBC diehards who think Crawford should just act like Miguel Vazquez and take whatever short end of the stick Al Haymon offers. Instead of arguing about why either fighter will prevail, Haymon Huggers are arguing about why Spence is the A-side, and Crawford supporters are making counterarguments.
He's a master baiter All the money in US boxing vacated with Jake Paul & Tyson Fury. Haymon & Hearn are in the trenches their golden gooses have been cooked and are in the freezer to prevent them from decaying.
I doubt PBC is going to be around much longer. Great post by the way. It’s always nice to see someone use actual numbers and statistics to back up their argument, as opposed to just throwing out wild exaggerations with no supporting evidence.
Looks like haymon is done holding out… According to this spectrum leak… Check it out homies! Spence Vs Crawford is listed for June on Spectrums PPV lineups! https://www.spectrum.com/cable-tv/sports-packages/pay-per-view
I'll believe it when we see the initial press conference. Until then, I think Spectrum may be jumping the gun.
That’s not true, Crawford sells in Omaha. Always has done. For whatever reason they both don’t seem to be happy with the financials so we, the fans, lose out on the best fight in boxing. Agree that Spence has been really popular at the Cowboys stadium. Fair play to him, because he has zero personality. I like both of them. Both will be Hall of Famers.
If Spence had zero personality he won’t sell so well but more importantly his fighting personality is shown in the ring. I like Bud as a fighter but he is very naive as a business man. Really is messing up the best payday of his life. Floyd took the shorter end of the purse split against Oscar and ending up with at $24 Million and a bit more which enabled him to subsequently become the A side and write his own ticket earning over a $Billion in his career.
I like the fact that Mayweather immediately agreed to whatever Oscar wanted including weight and gloves etc because he backed himself. He was lucky he didn’t box him earlier though.
If he boxed him earlier it would have been at a weight that suited Floyd with smaller gloves when he was at his peak and he would have butchered De La Hoya like he did to others like Corrales at the lower weight divisions.
