Their team went quiet when Frampton was chasing him, Quigg has called him out saying he'll fight him anywhere. When will Santa Cruz finally fight someone with a pulse?
Fight someone with a pulse?? Thats a joke right? His resume pisses all over Framptons and Quiggs combined!
Frampton has a good resume, comparable to Santa Cruz. But to think that Cruz needs to somehow fight Quigg is a little ridiculous. I have wondered why Golden Boy didn't throw LSC on the Mayweather or the upcoming Alvarez PPV undercards.
yeah, about that... Unbeaten British star Scott Quigg has laid down the gauntlet to Leo Santa Cruz in the hope of making yet another mouthwatering collision at 122 pounds. With Carl Frampton facing Kiko Martinez for the IBF title, on Sept. 6, Quigg went out of his way to contact RingTV.com in the hope of luring the WBC title holder to action. The fight I wanted next was Frampton, Martinez or Leo Santa Cruz, said Quigg, who holds the regular WBA title (Note: THE RING only recognizes Guillermo Rigondeaux). Frampton and Martinez are now scheduled to have a rematch which leaves Santa Cruz who, like me, has no fixed date so the match-up is ideal for both of us. Im looking to be back out in September and Santa Cruz has mentioned me in the past. This is the one Ive always wanted and Im 100 percent convinced that Ill beat him. Ive watched Santa Cruz for many years, ever since he was a bantamweight, and I couldnt be more confident of victory. Santa Cruz, THE RINGs No. 2-rated junior featherweight, is a two-weight world titleholder with an unbeaten record of 27-0 (15 knockouts). He is high quality and would be, by far, the toughest test of Quiggs seven year career. Still, despite the step up in class, the 25 year old welcomes the bout with open arms. I like fighters who come at me and Im a tall junior featherweight, just like him, Quigg said. I have no problems against opponents who are as tall as me and we saw that against Tshifhiwa Munyai, who I knocked out in two rounds. Stylistically, Santa Cruz and I match up well and this will be a great fight for the fans. With that said, hes never taken on a really big junior featherweight; a big fighter, capable of testing him to the limit. Victor Terrazas is the only real 122 pounder that hes faced, but Terrazas is extremely short for the weight. Santa Cruz is the fight I want, and the sooner the better. Quigg, THE RINGs No. 4-rated 122 pounder, is certainly confident and with a record of 28-0-2 (21 KOs) he has every right to be. The Bury man claimed a draw against Yoandris Salinas, in October of last year, but the consensus was that he deserved the nod and, on peak form, he is an excellent boxer with sharp skills. When asked to break down Santa Cruz, Quigg gave praise but also disclosed flaws. His work rate is his main attribute, but he doesnt waste punches, said Quigg, who is trained by celebrated coach, Joe Gallagher. Ive seen opponents have success, but they cant follow up and eventually break under the pressure. Santa Cruz is accurate but Id be smart, pick my moments and use feints and angles. Its called ring generalship, choosing where to be and where not to be. You need to keep Santa Cruz guessing. If he feels he can get away with applying constant pressure then thats what hell do, but if you make him stop and think then the pattern of the fight will change. Also, I can back him up and how often have we seen Santa Cruz on the back foot? Not only does Quigg want the fight, he is prepared to venture across the Atlantic in order to make it happen. Popular at home, the British ace submitted to the fact that an established champion like Santa Cruz is not going to agree terms for a showdown in the UK. Santa Cruz doesnt need to come over to Britain and thats just reality, said Quigg. The fight would have to happen in America, which doesnt bother me in the slightest. Ive always wanted to fight in the U.S. and to be honest, Id fight him anywhere. Im willing to take him on in his own back garden. if anyone is ducking...
Quigg can talk all he wants as he knows Santa Cruz has bigger fish to fry.Quigg is an unknown here and doesn't make any sense in a promotional scheme of things.Rose didn't help the Brit cause either as it's becoming more and more an indication that the Brits just can't compete at this level.Kell Brook will be their last chance and when he gets steamrolled that will be it for the British invasion.:deal
which bigger fish has LSC got to fry? He wants none of Rigo and Frampton/Kiko are tied up. Perhaps you meant he could get a fight with a more favourable risk/reward ratio. I'm a big fan of both LSC and Quigg, and to be honest I favour LSC quite heavily in that match up but it's disappointing to hear he aint keen on the fight
Do you believe everything you read?haha I bet you anything that quigg fights a terrible fighter next, Eddie is going to milk his paper title for all it's worth before he steps up ,everyone knows it and btw if quigg want to fight all the top guys like the arcticle says how come he left out rigo who has the real WBA belt not some Mickey Mouse regular belt? His full of ****
Well he might as well admit lsc is too good for him and his going to fight a few more plumbers and milk the paper title for all it's worth, oh wait that would be bad for business if he said that
The facts are that Hearn made a big offer for Frampton to come to manchester and face Quigg, Frampton turned it down and opted for Kiko instead. They then offered to go to LSC's backyard but for some reason LSC doesn't seem keen. You can believe whatever you like, those are the facts. Frampton I can understand because if he can negotiate the Quigg fight later in the year with Kiko's belt round his waist he'll be getting a much better deal. LSC is a puzzler because it looks like the best option out there for him. As for Rigo, well, they're all 'ducking' himto a degree aren't they. But when 'ducking' equals a young fighter trying to get experience against other quality fighter before calling out the best then I aint really got a problem with it.
