how long do you think it'll take for random drugs test to be implemented in boxing?

it seems since floyd mayweather's team started the random blood tests demands on pacquiao, it seems everybody involved in boxing is talking about drugs tests, it seems to be the new craze in boxing. now some top fights are being prevented of happening due to this excuse, so how long do think it'll take for boxing commissions around the world to take notice, not just about the potential of drugs evolving undetactable of their current drug tests, but their potential loss of money of fights being prevented due to boxers now using random blood tests as a reason for a fight happening, or not happening during negotiations?

personally, i think it'll be implemented sooner than later. i would say before 2012 you'll have random blood tests as a rule in most boxing commissions.

how do you feel about that? and do you think these rules will be implemented?

In 10yrs time when the cost of blood testing is already affordable to ordinary fighters. Right now, at $20k per test, the cost is too expensive but to the elite fighters.

With boxing boards historic reluctance to make changes for the better, I guess it will take at least 5 new belts before drug testing is implemented.

I think they need to catch someone doping before it can finally be pushed through.

They had there chance with Mosley, Vargas etc to make changes and haven't.

What I'm getting at is when the likes of Mosley, Conte, Vargas, Toney etc were all caught that was the chance to change things.

Furthermore, what I would introduce into the testing - any man refusing or failing a drugs test is banned for life.

I think it should be like other sports... first time refuse/fail 2 year ban, 2nd time lifetime ban. I think anybody who used deserves a 2nd chance, but not a 3rd.

They can't be implemented on aa consistent basis because there is no governing body to implement them.

The only time boxers are tested currently is when they are in build up to a fight. That gives them whole periods of months on end when they know the chance of a test is zero.

The only current regime for proper random testing that I'm aware of in the world is the one operated by Sauerland Promotions as part of their tv deal with ARD.

After hearing Schaefer blather on about being a crusader for testing I'm wondering why GBP are yet to implement something similar...
