how long do you think it'll take for random drugs test to be implemented in boxing?

If Mayweather vs Pacquiao happens with random blood testing, there will probably be random drug testing for every fight, after that one. Cause then it would have gotten everybodies attention, and if it turns out in a positive way they will start using it only a few months, after the huge fight. But if the fight doesnt happen, it would probably take 3-5 years.

Who would shoulder the cost of the testing?

'Random drug testing for every fight' is a red herring.

Any drug testing regime that is serious has to include out of competition testing and that needs a worldwide regulatory body to implement.

That's is actual random testing not "well you had a year where you knew you could not be tested at any point, but now we're going to 'randomly' test you for the next few weeks."

ok, thanks for your comments. when i said testing will be implemented in my opinion by 2012,i meant for the elite as the little shows no way can afford the tests at the price they cost.

also, i don't think they need to catch a boxer for it to be implemented, even though that will help at this current time. top boxers have already been caught taking drugs, and nothing has been done before, but now it's different, it's never been talked about to this extent, and now with top fights are actually getting prevented with that excuse of random tests, so i think it'll be implemented for that reason. one way to change a rule is to hit the commissions by the pocket, and at the moment that's what is happening.

maybe 2 to 4 yrs. but it really depends if an increasing number of fighters demanding it against their opponent to "level the playing field", so the commission maybe will take the necessary action to implement it sooner than we expected

They might start testing up til big fights in a couple of years, but the problem is they will bloodtest in a couple of month before a fight happen...And not year around.
In pro cycling they test all year around... And the athlete has to tell the organisation axactly where he is all the time,so they can test anytime, anywhere,i think.
A danish pro. Michael Rasmussen was lieing about where he was,and was out of the sport for 2 years.
If that will ever happen to proboxing i really dont know...
I think that random bloodtesting 2-3 mds. before a fight is more or less worthless,an athlete could benefit from steroid use between fights.
So if they want to clean up the sport completely, they need to test all around the year,IMO.

Unless all sanctioning bodies and boxing commisions makes a common goal in implying them, then it can happen.

that's going to be very hard to for boxing to come up with testing that extreme. that sort of testing might take decades, if ever, and in my opinion, never.

probably in 10 years time, urine testing would have been much advance than its present state now that there would be lesser or even no need for blood test.

They should try and gradually introduce it until its common and cheaper to do.
For example, first try and make it at least every time their is a world title fight, random drug testing is compulsory and move on from their.
