How long do you think MMA will last?

It will be as big as Boxing.

 

Its going to be around a long time.

 

it will be around for the rest of our lives.

unless the mega volcano kills us in 2012

 

Its clearly not a fad im so tired of this fad ****. This sport blew up in 2005 and thats what everyone said and now nearly 5 years later in continues to shatter its own PPV and attendance records, is on mutiple TV channels, UFC had a video game now EA sports the king of sports games is producing one. They are overtaking boxing about 2 miles away from me there is a shopping center and on one end you have a boxing gym thats closed buisness and right ****ing next to it is a BJJ gym with people coming in and out.

 

It ain't going anywhere and that is a good thing.

 

It will likely be finished by the end of the year.

 

Hard to say, but if there was ever a few high profile deaths in the ring it might change the dynamics of the sport.

As long as the UFC doesn't go broke than it's here for a while anyway.

 

I think MMA will need to continue changing and progressing to stick around. Their target audience is teenage white kids. I think teenage white kids will be around for a while, but hell even that's changing. Regardless, heavy metal, 20 whores and 20 strip poles will keep MMA limited to adolescent people (or grown men with adolescent attitudes). As a fight fan in general, some of the better MMA matches will draw me in, but the whole culture and attitude of it makes me ask myself if it's really worth it. The talent will always follow the money, and MMA is far from breaking ground on big money fights. Changes will need to be made.

MMA has become synonomyous with the UFC which presents a good package. If they continue to expand and improve they will dominate as the combat sport in this century.

 

He does have a very tiny point. The UFC demographic has been the same since it first started and consists mostly of teens to late 30 year olds looking for some "hardcore" violence. I dont like the way the UFC markets itself and prefer the Japanese approach but even their lust for blood and entertainment was borderline.

 

Boxing will die first before MMA. I believe MMA is the future of combat sports as it is the most complete form of fighting than boxing

 

as much as i like boxing mma will take its place once mma establishes a better amature program we will se more star's and a better level of competion
