How long do you think MMA will last?

I just love the Japanese fights overall even the Dream fights everything feels so damn epic. I was watching Pride Final Conflict 05 the other day and I had this great feeling watching Fedor vs Cro Cop especially the 1st round. I miss those days although Dream is doing good man I ****ing need HDNet I wonder how much it all cost.

 

You and me both. Getting hold of HDnet in the UK is a pain in the ass. I do prefer the whole PRIDE format its just soo much more appealing. But theres only so many times you can watch Aoki vs Hansen...

Right now their stable is very thin. Maybe that can increase in time who knows.. But i hope they dont go to the wall. Plus theres the Super Hulk tourny which still has a few interesting bouts like Mousasi vs Soko. Its good to see DREAM working with Mark Cuban and Strikeforce as they did with EliteXC so who knows. If they can get Golden Boy on board and Affliction maybe the future could be bright..

 

MMA will take over boxing when the CFL takes over the NFL.

 

This is just plain ******ed...a perception thats so far from reality...As a matter of fact, the UFC tries to expand its market with a diverse group of fighters they're trying to market. Im Canadian but pinoy is my ethnic background and when we watch a ppv theres a couple of whites, a black guy and an arabic guy..its kind of stupid to even mention this but this is reality.

Theres a reason Dana wants to go to the Philippines or non UK europe to promote UFC..everyone is a potential fan...it is absurd to think that its promoted to white adolescents only. This aint a skinhead rock concert. Its business.

I can say something about boxing, you have two black heavyweights fighting, then why the hell are the audience predominantly white???

As for the age, its a non issue..I can point to any man over 40 whos watching a ball being put thru the hoop and going nuts afterwards while wearing a team jersey with his favorite players name...that to me is more absurd..how bout grown men painting their faces with their team colors at a college football game when they have graduated 15 years prior.

Low-attendance sports like darts and powerlifting competitions have lasted for decades. I doubt that MMA will suddenly die. Decline, perhaps, but not die.

yes, i think mma will continue to grow and its going to around for a very long time. Boxing isn't getting nowhere. Its been the same for the last 20years. MMA is going take over and boxing is just going to be a sport in the past. Im not saying anytime soon. but in the far future

I just told you that their target audience is diverse, old, young, white, black, asian which is the truth..then you tell me its not. Then what the **** is your point?

That's the target market for everybody; they are just drawing them better than say boxing is. The auidence is much more diverse than the target audience, but advertising follows the money; there is a reason why the target audience is the target, advertisers know who has the money to spend.

Largely the MMA audience is more educated, more succesful, and hence they have more money to spend. So while people mock the "frat boy" stereotype, it means a college education and connections to start a career rather than a job. The reason so many shitty clothing lines, gyms, promotions, and now major sponsors etc are springing up is because MMA fans are the fans all companies want; young, educated, and with money to spend on whatever product you are trying to sell.
