Depends on how long you've been in boxing. I would recommend training and sparring for about 9 months to a year before your first fight. Then once you get your first fight I'd say about a 4 week minimum in between each fight. But it all really depends on how you did in your last fight (at least to me). If you feel like you still need work then go beyond the 4 weeks if you feel like you can fight again just train very hard during the 4 weeks and rest about 4 days prior to the fight. This is for amateurs of course not proffesionals.

Depends. Do you want to be ready to survive a fight or ready to destroy the guy?

I trained for 5.5 months and won in less than a minute so I could've fought alot earlier but I probably wouldn't have done as good. Some people may train for a year and then get their ass kicked, others may train for 2 month and then win easy.

Just train hard, and when you are ready your trainer will get you one.

i want at least 3 weeks notice before a fight. im basically pretty fit all year round i just need a few weeks to mentally prepare and narrow my training to sharpen up on my strengths and work on some weaknesses depending who my opponent is.

i have fought on 2 days notice a couple times in the amateurs, but thats how the amateurs work. If your fit you accept if your not fit you dont accept

I've taken fight at 2-4 days notice. If your only doing 3x2s its not that big a deal. Ideally though 8 weeks is optimum.

    I'm always ready.

Give me a notice on a Saturday night and I'll fight the next day. :!:

Assuming this isn't your first fight, I'd agree that it takes 2 weeks to a month to prepare for an amateur fight. However, if this is your first fight...it'll take a year or more to build that foundation.

If I understand your post correctly you're either bending the truth or you have one **** coach.

My first fight I was ready for in less than five minutes! Of course I tried to stay in shape and was involved with boxing consistently for about nine months. But I didn't know I was fighting until the last second and they threw me in there. I lost the fight but looked good doing it :p

if you are just starting your amatuer career I would suggest at least six months notice. for the professional ranked you need to pretty much be prepared to fight whenever the promoter tells you. you should be in tip top shape to be able to fight on a monthly basis.. after you develop your career many pro's schedule in fights about four to five months ahead of time.
