Since 1996 the night of the first Tyson-Holyfield fight the atmoshphere addicted me. So id say close to 15 years then 10 but sometimes with the BS that takes place in boxing I wonder why I keep watching.
I do remember hearing alot about him too as a kid and my parents would get the fights but i never really sat down to watch him until after he was way past it. So i never realy got into the Tyson bandwagon.
That one was a little before me , the first one i remember was leonard - Hagler - listened to it on the radio , he got me into boxing , i used to try and skip like him in the gym!!!
Since 1977-78 around the end of ALis career when he lost to Leon Spinks also remember his fight with Earnie Shavers. Im 39 so since i was was 7 or 8 ive been a die hard fan since back then. I remember cleaning up on bets when i was like 11 on the Holmes Cooney fight LOL. Already pretty knowledgable by that age. The guy on my Avi (Bobby Chacon) was my favorite as a kid so was Duran,ALi,Little Red,M Spinks,Arguello,Palomino and many more.
Please continue to vote. I would like to get a more accurate picture of where everyone stands in this forum. Thanks I became a fan of boxing in 1998 when I watched the Kostya Tszyu vs. Rafael Ruelas, and the Luisito Espinosa vs. Juan Carlos Ramirez double header. I watched a little boxing in the 80's, and I did see a few fights of Jorge Paez Sr. in the early 90's who was, to say the least, very entertaining.
I watched it casually when I was a kid. The first fight I remember distinctly seeing on TV was one of the Spinks-Holmes fights. From then (85/86) until around 1990 or so, I watched it casually. I remember watching big fights like Tyson's title defenses and Hearns-Leonard 2. Then around 1990/91, I started following it like a junkie. Fights like Douglas-Tyson, Chavez-Taylor 1, Holyfield-Douglas, the two Tyson-Ruddock fights, Foreman-Holyfield, etc...all got me hooked. I turned a little bit more into the casual side in the mid to late 90s, but started getting addicted again in around 2000. That Trinidad-Vargas classic really got me hooked.
