General interest: since I was a kid (28 now), through my dad. Hardcore fan of the lower weights: since the glory days of the late 90's/early 00's...Naz, MAB, Tapia, Morales etc. all making magic on HBO... Expanding to the entire sport: around '04.
since i was about 7 i remember my grandad showing me ray leonard and i was hooked. before sky and ppv i remember staying up to listen to tyson fights on the radio....
Tyson-Bruno I in 1989. The backing for Big Frank was huge here, and that pulled me in. So, blimey, 21 years now.
There's a difference between casual fans. Probably most of us here on ESB are "Die hard" fans if that sounds any better to ya :good
Fan for 8, hardcore for 7. Watched Toney vs Jirov that night in 03, and it solidified me as a hardcore fan.
I haven't got a fight wrong since buster douglas shocked the world LOL. Just kidding but I remember my pops looking like a fool saying that buster douglas was gonna beat him. He was getting laughed at by all his retired army buddies. He had the last laugh there and that was prolly his boxing fanhood moment of greatness LOL. I know it's unbelievable but I saw it with my own eyes. He was talking so much **** to his friends. My biggest upset was picking Baldomir over Judah. I didn't even know who baldomir was really. I looked him up and could only find one fight with a messed up video. After seeing Judah say he was gonna put Baldo to sleep (meaning judah wasn't training hard) I researched him and saw he was a very tough customer. Once I saw his face I had a feeling that he was gonna catch judah late and KO him. I was shocked that he won on the cards but was right about him catching Judah , which shifted the momentum drastically midfight. I was serving in Iraq at the time and couldn't find a site to bet on (2005). I wanted to bet 200 dollars because the odds were like 30 to 1. I was so pissed when Baldo won.
