looks like the dominant time is 3-5 (rookies) and 30-40 (vets)

kind of weird, so I guess ESB is full of old veterans and young fans... maybe that's why there is so much misunderstanding on here hahaha.

Been a big fan since RJJ beat Vinny Paz. I was a kid and I had seen both fight, so in my head it was an even fight coming in, how little I knew. Big fan since then, but there was about 2 years where I didnt pay attention because out of high school I became a ski bum. The contender got me back in as a casual fan, then I watched Mayweather vs. ODLH and next week watched Pavlik destroy Miranda and I was hooked again.

Been watching since the mid 80's, im 36 now.

    Biggest memories back then ,

Listening to Hearns vs Leonard II on the radio.

Tyson knocking out Trevor Berbick and everyone at school saying he was only 18!!!

i know he was 20 , but when you are 12 you believe the other kids.

    No it doesn't.

To declare oneself a "Pugilist Specialist Connoisseur" sounds pompous and arrogant.

Incidentally, I am a pugilist specialist connoisseur.

  11. I'm about to turn 30. My first big fight memory was Leonard vs. Hagler, and I remember watching every Tyson fight, and in about 1989 my family got HBO and we were watching every time there was a fight...My dad was a fighter so boxing was in our house ever since I can remember. I can say I've been a hardcore fan (really following the entire sport closely and studying it and writing about it) since about 2004 when De La Hoya fought Hopkins. I voted 15-20 years because I still remember many obscure fights from when I was a kid, the memory is just retained for whatever reason.

  12. "connoisseur" is for food and music and art...maybe even cars... You would be a pompous and ******ed to label yourself like that.

"enthusiast" or "aficionado" are more appropriate for a fight fan :good

I could have an intelligent boxing conversation with an adult when I was 9 years old. Some of the first books I read were boxing autobiographies and biographies. I am 30 now, and have followed boxing since the age of 6, so for 24 years, I have been a hardcore fan, although in my Army years ('99-'03) I couldn't keep up with the sport as much as I would have liked to.
