39 years..... I have seen Duran, leonard Hearns, Gomez, Sanchez little Red Lopez and Ive seen sweet Pea and Camacho, I've seen Ali lose to Spinks and then reclaim the title. Tyson on the way up knocking guys out. Hagler and Ive seen Chavez struggle with Juan Laporte....Ive seen Holmes vs Cooney closed circuit in an Armory wit my father. I know the history of boxing the styles etc and done a little fighting myself. how long have you followed boxing?
First fight I remember being psyched to watch was Benitez v Leonard. First bet I made (and lost) was Duran v Leonard. However, although I've been watching boxing for many decades, I'll be the first to admit that I'm a casual boxing fan, in that I've never studied any real boxing history, nor have I boxed. For what it's worth, my favorite boxer of all time was the Motor City Cobra.
about 28 years, I remember watching barry mcquigan and had his poster on my wall then a member of my mums staff was herol bomber graham's ex wife, and he came to visit his daughter one day in Skegness (approx. 86-7 )and I got to have a playful boxing match in her kitchen with him then going for a drive in his black porshe with gold writing on and I tried one of his boxing gloves on and it reached my elbow, great memories
Always like boxing as a kid,but id say I became a fan in the mid 90s,around the time of Collins,Benn,Eubank,Naz,Tyson's comeback,so maybe 20 years..,and started following the sport around 2000..
IIRC first fight I watched was Alfredy Angulo fight some Irishman by the name of Canelo O' Callaghan in the golden days of boxing one week ago. some questioned the lateness of the stoppage that ended the contest, but alas boxing was a much more savage sport in that era.
im 24 been all about boxing sense i begged my mom to order me holyfiled/moore II and then i fell asleep i didnt even watch it .
i watched boxing in 1990 and round about that time, but it wasn't anything serious. just watched some of the famous fighters. but i soon became addicted. so solidly i've been a boxing fan for about 22 years.
I was about 14 when De La Hoya vs Mayweather, and that was the first time I was ever dying to see a boxing match and I haven't looked back since... But I've been around it all my life... My brother is a die-hard fan (guy's a boxing encyclopedia), and my dad is a fan (though he was a bigger fan when I was younger)... But OFFICIALLY, DLH - Mayweather
