I've been out of training for 6 months due to a bad knee injury but will start again next week. I've lost a lot of fitness (but not completely unfit) - I just about managed to finish 3x2 minute rounds on my heavy bag today! I'm going to be very dedicated to training/roadwork now I'm injury free but wanted to know peoples opinions on how long it would take to reach a level of fitness where I am capable of competing.

Nobody can tell you how long it'll take, it comes down to you. Why does it even matter? Train to the best of your ability and compete when you're capable.

  3. Have you ever competed before? Also how long it will take depends on so many variables. What did you have repaired in your knee? If it was a complete reconstruction it is a long hard haul back to full sports level fitness.

You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder! I want you to chase this little chicken. If you can catch the chicken, you can catch greased lighting.

So catch the chicken and you are ready to fight!

I hope you've been lifting/plan to lift before running again, otherwise you're just going to reinjure yourself.
