I know Breidis has already dabbled with it. The Charr KO was BRUTAL. To see a man that big drop like that? Damn. He'd be a great addition. Dorticos looks like he could do with the move. He's getting on a bit now. In fairness, both have done as much as humanly possible at the weight when they meet, so a move in natural. Imagine Breidis/Whyte or Dorticos/Chisora. Bodybags all around!
I don't think Briedis will ever move up. He is sitting in a very comfortable position right now. And he is up there in age as well.
Maybe not now. But if I were in his position and Joshua could get his belts back I definitely would have with those massive paydays awaiting at HW. Doesn't matter if you lose, you're still set up for life.
But thats the thing, the heavyweight division is closed off. Fury and Wilder are doing their thing. Who knows where Joshua will land. And then there is Usyk. I think if he had a guaranteed fight, he would move up to take it. But he won't move up for the sake of looking for a fight. Kinda like Gassiev and Usyk are doing at the moment. Those two are having to chase for those lucrative opportunities.
I think the loser moves up regardless, more money at heavyweight and both are older. Winner can look at their options. Unified Cruiserweight titleist might pay more than heavyweight contender.
Briedis has the durability to do well at heavyweight, but Dorticos doesn’t and would hammered by any of the punchers at heavyweight.
Briedis should move up after the tournament. He's 33 or 34 but that's not old for a heavyweight. He has the size skill power and chin to move up
Since when??? Every time he fought decent competition he showed a mediocre chin. Miranda and Masternak rocked him and Gassiev, who’s power wouldn’t be anything special at heavyweight rocked Dorticos every time he touched him and knocked him out. Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz, Whyte, Ruiz, Fury, Miller, etc. would all badly hurt Dorticos.
