how long will it be before we have the ppv #s on cotto/marg?

    How long does that information usually take to circulate? I think these #s will be a very tell-tale indication of where the sport is heading, considering the two names involved are of the "new generation", and not carryovers like DLH, Jones, Trinidad, etc...

    Well Arum said that the numbers were very good. That something must have happened because from the looks of it Cotto-Margartio really crossed over.

    I want to see myself as well. What a kick in the ass it'll be if this is over 400 :lol:

    If it did over 400k then no fighter cant make the excuse that they wont fight Margarito because he is not a draw.

    This brings me to another question. Does margarito winning this fight hurt or help the sport in general?

    Pros of Margarito winning:

    Doesn't duck anyone -- will generate more big fights in the future.
    Fan-friendly style -- Takes a licking and keeps on ticking
    Fanbase -- Mexicans eat this **** up


    Cons:

    Doesn't have the personality to be a household name (jones, trinidad, ..etc)
    Doesn't have the looks for crossover female appeal (dlh)
    Isn't a "hilight reel" type of fighter -- not flashy, not pretty, handspeed and combinations are average, just gets the job done.

    This really has been done before. Most real boxing fans are heterosexual men who aren't watching a guy fight because they like the way he looks. Most fans just want to see a good fight between the best. No different than any other competitive sport.

    DLH has a big female gathering (on ESB) but who cares? They aren't true boxing fans.
