And when I say HIM you know exactly who I am talking about, he has lost all credibility with me, he would not even sacrifice the reputation of his own heart to go for broke.:patsch:admin

Canelo is just 23, man. He'll get 7 figures in his next fight. I do think he will be matched carefully.

Losing to the best fighter of the the last 2 decades doens't qualify as getting knocked off the path.

Within a year he'll be back. There's still a lot of money to be made from the kid...

The real question for me is how this loss will affect Canelo. He was completely outclassed.

The guy will still be at the top of the p4p list in 5 years.
He simply fought a foolish fight against Money.

Well he should be ok, but his handlers should know better than to think that a victory over Austin trout would make him ready for someone like FLoyd Mayweather. Austin Trout is a good fighter, FLoyd is an ATG. Stupid matchmaking on GBP's part, but the opportunity came to make 8 figures so he obviously couldn't turn that down.

He looked promising before this; but after such a dismal performance, no interest really. I mean, not that I expected him to win, but come on, show something. He's alright, I guess, but certainly not upper echelon.

I think one of the reasons Canelo did not heat the things up and attempt to trade in 11-12 rounds is that he cared about not getting knocked out. Losing to Mayweather is not bad in the long-term, there will be excuses like he is too young, too drained, just an off night, etc.
What could have harmed him in the long-term is the knock out.
I personally expected him to try to anything in those late rounds, but he thought long-term.
