Well, he did beat Lewis that should count for something. Rahmans at least a good fighter, who made Vitali think twice before coming back, or shall I say 4 times.:yep

 

But if Peter was the KO destoyer he was touted as being, I don't care if Toney's chin is good, great, or cast iron, Toney woudl have been put down...........Even the best chins will fall if caught with power like Peter was supposed to have.

Same for McCline. McCline is not known for being overly tolerant to being caught with powerful shots, and he never even showed signs of being really hurt, after Peter nailed him, repeatedly.

So don't give us that crap. Peter is not the powerhouse he was hyped to be. No shame in that, but just admit it. :good Peter is probably along the lines of Rahman, as far as power goes. I bet Rock could drop Jeremy Williams, too. Certianly. And as we all know, the Willaims KO was Peter's biggest claim to fame, regarding his supposed KO power from hell. :blood

Yeah of course Peter isnt as powerful as Foreman or Tyson, I never once said he was that powerful. He is good for the heavyweight division because he makes exciting fights, he also slugs it out with his oppenents which is fun to watch.

When Peter hit Williams with that punch, people seen a young David Tua, that want punch power the heavywieght division is begging for. I think Peter has came back to reality after the Mccline fight and is ready for Maskaev, and no Maskaev will not be able to handle "The Nightmares" power.

 

Sues2nd- your a good poster, but the 3rd pic was not necessary seeing that was a result of a head butt. I would however love to see the video of Wlad being dropped by Peter 3 times though, I love seeing Wlad getting dropped by Peters power.

 

I am really looking forward to this fight, as I know we all are. Here's hoping for an exciting war between these two guys who can both crack.

To be fair, I think Peter did improve from the first TOney fight (which I thought Toney won by a landslide) to the rematch, which Peter legitimately won. He has gotten some bette, especiially at throwing straighter shots, since that fight, yes.

But his amazing power reputation has been disproven, I think we all agree.

Lots of fighters have taken fights on short notice and won them vs top comp. You're acting like Peter wasn't even training for a fight and was out of shape. If he's such a monster puncher he should have done better vs McCline. :bart

Many* of the mid 60s to mid 70s HWs were more exciting to watch than Ali, but who has the better rep?

* Frazier, Quarry, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle... hell even Norton.

 

Wlad is the best Heavywieght out there, you heard me say before. I just dont think hes as exciting as he use to be, I think some of you Wlad fans would agree with me on that.

I understand some fighters do well on short notice, but others dont fair so well. If Peter fought say Rahman or Mccall I would say there pretty close to the same hieght and built as Maskaev, at least comparable. 6'6 270 compared to 6'2 and a half 235 is a pretty big difference wouldnt you say, but come 2-2-08 there will be no excuses just a devastating Sam Peter knockout of Maskaev.

 

Maybe so. And Vitali was usually more exciting than Wlad, but exciting and wins don't necessarily go together! There are too many examples of successful but not very exciting fighters in this sport.

I had the "great" Rahman as a slight fav over Oleg even though he lost their first fight. What will Oleg be in 2008, pushing 40? Peter is supposedly in his prime, pushing 30. If Peter struggles with, never mind loses to Oleg, his stock will stay about the same or drop - except to the huggers :yep
If he beats Oleg, to the Peter lovers Oleg will all of a sudden become an ATG :huh
