So Dirrell would be the 3rd best fighter with no major wins coming off of a KO and loss to Froch.
Like I noted Dirrell has no big wins, other than possibly Abraham who isnt a very good SMW and do tell me what where Abrahams big wins? So Dirrell hasnt done anything of note except lose to the limited C Froch. I noted other fighters who were in better stages of their careers than Dirrell, who had better resumes when Calzaghe beat them -

Lacy - undefeated, winner of 5 world title fights and with a better SMW resume consisting off Vanderpool (world rated), Sheika who would challenge for a world title again in his next fight, Pemberton (world rated), Reid (world rated) and after losing to Calzaghe beat 2 world rated fighters in Tsypko and Manfredo.

Oh, and Eubank killed himself to make the weight so I wouldn't hold that win highly.

How far past prime was Eubank to you then?
Eubank had lost a close decision to Collins, that many thought he won, had a couple of tune ups and rematched Collins to a SD, had a couple of tune ups and lost clearly to underdog Calzaghe. After that loss Eubank went up to CW and challenged world champ Thompson losing a very close decision and then rematched Thompson losing on injury when ahead. Thats Thompson who years later past his best KOd D Haye.
Consider Eubank only had 2 losses to one fighter when he fought Calzaghe, the second by SD to a world champ and was 31 then went on to challenge a big CW flooring him etc, how past his prime do YOU think he was?
Remember Kessler is Wards big win and was the same age as Eubank here and had around the same amount of fights

Remember when you make silly comments about losses was G Johnson considered past his prime when years ago after losing to Hopkins he went 7-9-2 including the Hopkins loss

Eubank was a top 10 rated SMW also and winner of 19 world title fights with only 2 defeats to one fighter, the first where he looked unlucky to many and the second by SD.

Veit 2 - The win Calzaghe had over Veit was a very good victory.
The first time Calzaghe beat Veit, Veit was 30-0 and hadnt beaten anyone of real note, hence he was blown away in a round by Calzaghe.
When Calzaghe beat Veit a 2nd time Veit was an accomplished world rated 45-1 fighter who had some solid victories behind him, and was top 10 rated.
Veit had beaten undefeated Dziarra who wasnt a great fighter but did go on to beat L Mock and undefeated M Oral who would go on to challenge MW champs A Abraham and S Sylvester recently.
Veit had also beaten beaten undefeated Guerrero for the European union title.
Veit beat future title challenger Salem and Mock.
Veit also beat world rated C Brewer with an educated destructive 9th round KO.
A note on Veit. He only ever lost to world champs or fighters who became world champs and has victories over Mock, Salem, Perdermo (a future Kessler challenger), Brewer when Brewer was world rated and Veit beat undefeated Braehmer who is now the current WBO LHW champ due for a unification fight in JAN 2011. A good Calzaghe victory over a mandatory world class SMW
Also a great away victory for Calzaghe in Germany.

Reid - Had lost one fight when not doing much against Malinga in a strange performance but was higher rated than Dirrell, had never been off his feet and had victories over Nardiello away, Cherifi who beat K Holmes to become WBC MW champ and world rated Wharton, so Reid was also a more accomplished higher rated fighter than Dirrell. After Reid lost to Calzaghe he went on to beat undefeated B Magee who was Butes last challenger, Brinkley who was Butes challenger before that and look very unlucky to Ottke the WBA & IBF champ who has one of the best SMW resumes and is one of the best SMWs ever

Woodhall had only lost once as a SMW in a very close fight to future 3 time WBC SMW champ Beyer, having Beyer hanging on at the end. Woodhall was a higher rated SMW who had victories over WBC champ Malinga, Catley who became WBC champ, Nardiello the former WBC champ, Branco who became WBA LHW champ.

2 time WBA SMW champ
He beat #1 Liles (something Ward is praised for doing) by KO
drew with future 2 weight champ Girard
beat Siaca twice who went on to become WBA SMW champ who beat Mundine
beat former MW champ JC Green who beat a prime Joppy before Joppy was beaten by Trinidad or Hopkins.

Mitchell only lost by SD to Ottke and was only ever beaten clearly once as a SMW. That was by Calzaghe

Saying Mitchell could possibly be Americas best SMW of the decade might not be far wrong.

Dirrell arguably(and imo) has a win over Froch, someone better than most of Calzaghe's wins.

Dirrell lost to Froch, live with it and accept it. The Ring magazine and Boxing News both scored for Froch also. Still Froch beat Dirrell but lost to Kessler when Kessler was an unwell double vision suffering fighter. Calzaghe beat the undefeated Kessler.

Dirrell also has more talent than almost all of Calzaghe's defenses it's just his fault that he doesn't utilize it enough.

atsch. What a silly comment. Meldrick Taylor had natural talent but it didnt carry him past Chavezs pressure. Dirrell could have lots of natural talent but if he doesnt use it then its not so good.

So it shows that win isnt great and Froch beat AA even more convincingly in his very next fight. We know AA hasnt beaten anyone of real note except Taylor coming off a KO loss. So you are basing all of Dirrells achievements on losing to Froch.

I named you several fighters just as highly rated or higher rated with better resumes and who were at better places in their careers to what Dirrell is.

atsch Right. So Dirrell was suffering a KO to Abraham even though he got a DQ win and lost to Froch. Where many now would favour Hopkins of now to beat Froch.
Yet when Calzaghe beat Hopkins it was sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik, yet you think that Dirrell being KOd by AA and losing to Froch would be a more difficult style
