Hey no doubt Calzaghes record could be better but then so could other mw's and SMWs from his era.:deal

If you think Froch and Dirrell embarrassed AA Calzaghe would make him look like a 5 fight amature!! The fact you point to AA as a top win for Dirrell says it all, he's a good mw but terrible SMW, he doesn't belong.

Dirrell also has less heart than any fighter Calzaghe faced. Calzaghe has twice the output, speed, awkwardness of anyone Dirrell has ever faced.

I never said Kessler was great, he was very good. Has wins over Froch(close fight that could've went either way) & Andrade which aren't too bad. Calzaghe had longetivity and domination over a division which still counts for something but I was saying that the Lacy & Kessler wins are solid. Kind of the only thing he holds onto as Jones was shot and I didn't see him beating Hopkins after I watched the fight. I really wish he had fought Dawson but he lost his passion for the sport which I understand and he has two solid wins during his reign at the division he was best in at SMW. You can't ignore dominance which Calzaghe had.

Right this is a H2H. Still, Calzaghe has shown more heart in the ring overall and that would take play in the matchup.

When people are picking Dirrell based on his loss to Froch and win over MW AA you can't help but bring records into it Jack.

But I agree, remove the records and Calzaghe is still better.

The same people calling Calzaghe a "hype job" will pick Dirrell to beat him, the irony is killing me here!

Same here with regard to his style. The thing is as sloppy and painful as some of his work looks we can't deny it was effective. Those slaps must have been hard because whenever he unleashed I don't recall times when opponents didn't hit the ropes and cover up.

Maybe in years to come if Dirrell beats a few top opponents and holds titles this debate might be worthy but as of right now I can only call it crazy to pick Dirrell.

I see Dirrell winning on points...He beat Carl Froch and AA back to back and hasn't even had 20 fights yet...He made a very good boxer and undefeated champion in Froch look like a caveman for most of their fight, and he did it Froch's back yard...

Calzaghe never even fought outside of the UK until his 45th and 46th fights, and that was against two forty something fighters...

Dirrel would take it in my opinion...

Yeah if he had no power then I don't see why his opponents just didn't walk through it. His style was effective for outworking his opponent we both can agree with that.

Dirrell doesn't adapt or dig in deep enough in order to become a champion imo. He can change that and use more heart as Ortiz has recently but I doubt it.

Cal stops Dirrel. It'll be slightly gentler than lacy, Calzaghe gets ridiculously underrated here.

Dirrell is rapidly becoming one of the most under rated fighters on ESB.

I am a big Calzaghe critic, while I think Dirrell was more skilled as a technical boxer, and had more hand speed and power than Calzaghe. Calzaghe definitely had better stamina, more poise and more heart in the ring.

I do think he is rated just right. His star will shine soon.

Dirrell beat Froch. Fighting in your shitty country is the only reason he lost.

As for Calzaghe. I'd like to see how he'd handle someone awkward like Froch. Froch suffice to say would be the 3rd best win on his pathetic resume.

First off I'm Scottish, not English you muppet.

Secondly Froch won like it or not, this ain't no Lewis-Holyfield **** where 100% of people know Lewis won.

I know Calzaghes record is thin, Dirrell's still isn't a scratch on it.

Is Scotland not part of the UK william wallace?

    Post your scorecard then *****.
Dirrells only 27 years old and has already fought 2 world champions. Calzaghe fought till he was 40 and still couldnt accrue a respectable career.
