I had never heard of geale before the GGG fight was announced...but i read somewhere that geale would be a real test. not like the other soft-touches golovkin usually beats up on. to me, geale is an ok guy, but he wouldn't go past 3, 4 rounds with lara, canelo, cotto or kirkland. i looked up his record on boxrec and it's kinda mediocre.

this was another safe opponent for GGG. what are they waiting for? GGG is already 32...nearly past his prime. put him with a live body already...there's a lotta solid guys at JMW, MW and SMW. geale is definitely not it. geale fought scared! he went down the first from a shot that grazed his neck! then he made GGG miss a few shots and he landed that hard right hand before getting dropped...but then he got up and quit!

GGG will probably beat the top guys at MW, but not without getting his chin and his heart severely tested first...let's see if he really has what it takes.

What fights have you seen of Geale outside of Golovkin?

He is a good fighter similar level to Macklin, Barker, and Sturm. His fights with Barker and Sturm where extremely close.

And what about his skill set do you see him using to beat the likes of Lara and Canelo etc?

yes i have watched his previous bouts geales work rate and abilities to take a punch (just because he could not take golovkins means nothing no one aint hitting like him) i could see him giving big problems to canelo and lara taking them to deep waters both those guys should stay at 154...........

So, you didn't watch Geale vs Barker last August?
Try following the MW division. Also you can find tape on just about anyone on youtube or daily motion.

The distance of fourse, and he would outpoint and stop some of them. Geale has never been stopped in his career, in spite of not being exactly a ghost.

3 rounds, he last against the triple g. Scary.

c'mon now, i know people want to make out like geale is not garbage, so as to lift up the significance of this win for GGG. I've been following boxing all my life. To be honest, geale is not the only guy I never heard of that got a title shot...i had never heard of macklin, barker or murray before they fought sergio...never heard of adama before the golovkin fight. never heard of agnew before the kovalev fight. not saying that just because I never heard of a guy, that he's no good. but i thought geale looked so weak against GGG that i had to look him up on boxrec to see why he even got the fight. i had no idea geale was once IBF middlewt champ. guy also lost to barker and split two fights with mundine... close fight with adama. Right there, it tells me he's a limited guy.

If you're getting beat by guys like mundine and barker and struggling with adama, what hope do you have to beat guys like lara, canelo, chavez, cotto or kirkland? They would destroy geale in a few rounds.

Just because US TV has told everyone how great Canelo and Lara are doesnt make it true. Geale is a good deal better than either. Euro/Aussie fighters just dont get advertisement in the US (which is basically what showcase bouts are), and US fans like to think that slick and counter punching styles are the only good ones.

Geale has the footwork and work rate to easily keep up with and hit Lara, and win a UD. Flatfooted and low output Canelo would never corner him and KO him.

Neither Lara nor Canelo are anything special, though Canelo is young enough that he might get there.

i disagree...euro/australiian fighters generally suck. this is why they tend to not become superstars and it's why american fighters usually beat them with ease. I just watched a little of the geale-adama highlights. geale is not in the same class as any of those guys. the last australian who was any good was kostya tszyu...that was about 10 years ago.

my point basically boils down to this: geale was a safe opponent for GGG. they knew geale has no power, so they could walk through his shots. If Canelo or Cotto or Lara had picked Geale for their next fight, the same people praising GGG for taking on all comers would be criticizing them for taking on a weak opponent...same criticism, btw, that FMJ gets.
