How long would it take (to train at boxing) and be able to defend yourself?

I like how you keep on repeating this about the people that don't agree you have to start a fight with children throwing random insults to defend your honor.

Of course this forum is the only thing in my life. What made it so obvious, my 2,224 posts in 4 years? :nut

Is this it now? Keep repeating the same childish **** over and over. "This is your life, all you do! HAHAHA!!!" It didn't make sense the first time you said it let alone this time.

Lets look at it this way - 99% of the people on this thread have made you look like a moron since page one, the sad thing is you can't even see it.

See no one is arguing that, that's what so ****ing funny about this thread...this viru§ guy is so goddamn ******ed LOL, has the mental competency of a squirrel, just look at my original story:

I mean I don't know if he's just born with a mental defect, purposely stupid, or just sexually repressed and needing to vent on an internet forum...but I just don't get why he's too ****ing stupid to follow a simple story without embellishing hahaha

This is reason why more and more will happily carry a weapon...

    Okay...

So at what point do you throw the first punch? Would you throw a punch because some 16 year old kid wants to look tough and shouts something at you in the street? You'd risk everything because of something so pathetic and harmless? Nobody is saying walk away if you get assaulted, just walk away from entirely pointless fights.

I could do the same to half the people I meet on a daily basis, I don't because I have no need to as they don't assault me...

Are we still talking self defence or just plain getting into a fight?

Yeah, please do this OP, it'd be funny to read in the paper. "Guy gets beat up, learns boxing for a year and returns to get beat up a second time" Sounds a bit boring but funny

Being a boxer doesn't mean **** if you get stabbed...

Aren't you a trained fighter yet you're telling this guy to learn the same sport and go back to assault people? :huh

    see what I mean? ^^^^^^^^

See how he takes what someone says and turns it into something completely different? Armstrong said he'd defend himself if attacked, he turns it around and says "Oh, so you're saying you'd fight a 16 year old if he said a bad word to you!!!" LOL, what an imbecile.

Wow. You're getting desperate now. You really need to read and understand what is said before commenting.

This was kind of funny at first now it's just getting boring. Can't you do something original, spice up the thread a bit?

This is great advice. Reminds me of a youtube clip I saw years back about how effective knives are, and how the best defence should always be to run. They showed with markers, etc. how knife disarming techniques are total **** and will never help you. It ended with a long list of badass martial arts champions from around the world who died after getting into a fight with a guy with a knife.

I'd link it, but it was taken down because it was quite graphic.

Dude let trash get to you. You need to protect yourself. Getting stabbed, beat up, or being charged with an offence just isn't worth it over a slice of pizza, or a percieved insult from someone that you wouldn't even trust to mow your lawn.

It's a slice of pizza dude, get over it. And just so you know, the actual fighters are the one telling you not to get into pointless fights.

Everyone would defend themselves if they're attacked. Having one's pizza thrown on the ground doesn't equal attacked.

    LOL

riiight, notice how all the people that post anecdotal evidence from their training background agree with me while the one's telling me to carry guns and "not act gay" are the one's who disagree...the very same "fighters" (as you call them) that respond to me within 3 minutes of every post, must be hard posting replies on an internet forum while training on a punching bag :)

Oh that's right idiot, and having a gun held to your head doesn't equal getting killed either...somehow people with an IQ above 6 would be able to put two & two together and figure what's premeditated to a punch usually involves some form of instigation.

But hey, you could be right, when he was 2 feet from my face and throwing my pizza on the ground maybe he was just wiping off the table, you know, could've been dirty

No wonder you're such a putz when it came to talking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

I'd just like to interject that aside from being excessively abrasive and unintelligent, you also seem to have substandard people skills and reading comprehension.:bart

The last thing I want to do after a long training session is get into a street fight with some idiot, I think you'd be doing it for all the wrong reasons.

    lol @ this whole thread.

Boxing helps with street fights because you learn how to throw proper punches and you get used to punches coming your way so you don't go into panic mode like Brock Lesner does. So that's already 2 advantages you'll have over the average scrub.

As for going against guys with weapons, it all depends if they make it known that they have a weapon (usually by show) if they do, then try to avoid an altercation altogether unless your 100% sure you can get your hands on a weapon too.
Now anytime you fight someone you should be trying to take them out as quickly as possible. I've seen guys land a good 1, 2 only to let the person off the hook and the guy is able to sneak his knife out and turn the whole fight around. Some guys aren't gonna let you know they have a knife so that's why everyone is telling you to avoid fights because you never know whats gonna happen and what some guys are capable of.
I know everybody kinda got at you with the gay jokes and **** early but within those same posts were some gems of knowledge. You prolly was just to hung up on the perceived insults.
Boxing is like anything else in life. You get what you put in to it. If you're training 4-5 times a week at least 2-3 hours each time then you'll be progressing nicely.
I'll say this though, don't allow yourself to get a false sense of your skills. Gain perspective. I knew guys who used to beat up on scrubs in the gym and would think their a prime Larry Holmes but fight somebody on their level or higher and get their ass kicked brutally.
