How long would it take (to train at boxing) and be able to defend yourself?

    nonsense!

And hey, there's no harm if you're a fugly duckly....us homo's like to take care of ourselves, nothing wrong with that. And besides, you're not gay...so if you're looking for a chick to spread her legs I heard virus' mother is available.

    hahahahahha

yeah man I'm totally going out looking for fights, the whole reason I started this thread was not to learn self-defense (ignore the title!) but because I'm trying to beat up random d00dz :D

So let me get this straight...

Say we have two people (relatively equal in stature)...one boxes for a year, and the other plays basketball for a year...assuming they fight, chances are they'd be equal in terms of their fighting skills?

    LOL

ok first of all you came to the forum looking for help no one came to you so just lose your little sassy atittude ok and most of these guys are right in a

way you are instigating i mean if your proud your gay thats okay but the

whole world doesnt have to know everything you do and you were talking

about defending your dignity (you have none if you like **** in the booty) it's

not like your goin to see that guy ever again so why try and act hard when

your not. why do you think most fighters are humble CAUSE they know they

can whoop anyone's ass and people who usually talk a lot of mess (who go to boxing forums to learn how to fight also) talk alot because they know they cant back it up

This thread was an entertaining read.

Kyzz, I get the type of situation you were in and I get why you want to pick up boxing. The people giving you advice are steering you in the right direction, though. Walk away from situations like you were in, you end up looking like the bigger person. If the guy came up to you, called you a *** and then spit in your face, hit you, or pushed you, that's when you react the way you did. I was harassed so much that I had to change high schools. Worse than you were harassed in this situation. I picked up boxing because my cousin introduced me to it. He told me that it would 1. boost my confidence 2. teach me how to throw a punch and take a punch 3. discipline me and 4. put a good head on my shoulders. He was right. You are trying to learn boxing for the wrong reasons, in my opinion. If you want to be a better street fighter then get into more street fights. If you want to box better, learn the techniques endure the training and start sparring and/or fight in a club. It works the same for anything, if you want to surf better then surf more. If you want to skateboard better then skateboard more.

Yeah you're right, some people do just "want" to start ****. Deal with it, make a choice. Walk away or knock the **** out of them. Hell you could even shoot them if you wanted, but what you need to understand is that it's your choice that you made and whether or not you think it's right or wrong others will think differently. I moved from where I lived for 13 years (a ghetto neighborhood) into white suburbia. I was given **** on a day to day basis from 8th grade until the end of my freshman year in high school. I STILL get **** from the kids that go to my old high school (I'm a junior in high school now) for being a "gangster". I didn't go around knocking peoples heads off because they gave me ****. Out of 2 years of getting constantly harassed, I hit 1 person. And that's because they called my girlfriend a *****. Do I think that beating the **** out of one of them would have made things better? Yeah. But it also could have made things a lot worse as well. I ignored them. I won't let people have that kind of control over me, to get me so pissed off that I beat them senseless. If I wanted to, I could. But I don't feel the need to prove myself because I know what I am capable of. And boxing taught me that.

And about acting less gay, they're right. If you don't want to get **** for acting gay then don't practically scream I'm gay by acting like someone who is gay. You can be gay and act like a "normal" person by not flaunting it. I'm not saying you don't have the right to flaunt it. By all means, do it. But if you 1. are getting **** for it, 2. can't handle people talking about you and 3. aren't capable of being the bigger person then you need to stop flaunting it around that you're gay. Simple as that.

Stop being so immature, take some of the advice off of this forum and learn something. I'm 16 years old and I'm more mature than you. Grow up, dude. The gay card isn't going to save you. Just like the race card doesn't save people. "It's because I'm gay, isn't it?" That's bull****. I wasn't able to say "It's because I grew up in the ghetto, isn't it?" in my situation. You are who you are. You're pride is as you see it. You're self image is as you see it. You control it, not anyone else. Learn from something and move on instead of taking things so personally. **** happens.

Sorry for the wall of text, I just wanted to reinforce what everyone else was saying with **** that I have gone through and hopefully tie everything together to help this guy out.

    First post, btw. hahahaha.

    Hello Viquil

Your post started off really well, while reading it really sounded like it was some straightforward, pragmatic advice to the situation. But then like a train going off the rails, it crashed into a ditch of stupidity. First of all, from what I've gathered, you're a coward. I know if you were in my situation and some guy asked you to hit the road, you would, but I have this thing called 'dignity'...you should look into it.

Next, you rave about how mature you are, yet you said:
Wow, really mature! Want to know how many people I've hit for calling me a ***? Zero. ...If you'd read (and comprehended) my story, you'd notice I mentioned that despite all the vitriol spit towards my friends and I, not once did I approach or initiate violence. It was only after the idiot approached the table and threw my food on the ground (and if that isn't a precedent to violence then I don't know what is).

And finally, I can "act" as gay as I want...I'm not going to talk in a lower voice and not hold my boyfriend's hand all because a few morons think that's how life should be lived. So the next time you try to give "advice", at least give the impression that your age and IQ are not interchangeable numbers.

Lol, you're trollin. Gj bro, you tricked a lot of people. If you aren't trollin then you're extremely simple minded and you need to grow up.

Good luck in boxing, you won't last 2 weeks.
