How mad will you be when Floyd doesnt fight the winner of Trout vs Canelo?

Thats a damn shame to read. So thats gonna be it. The biggest Floyd fan on ESB is saying 154 is too big for Floyd. That idea seems to be enough for the rest most of the Floyds fans to say, "hey champ, dont listen to them, we dont mind that u dont wanna take that risk, ur too small for 154."

Why take the risk huh? Its not like thats what boxing is about :-(

 

Curious to see what Showtime will do if this fight doesn't sell well.

 

Itll do at least a million buys. Esp with the help of CBS, March madness, and smart move for Floyd to stack the undercard with mexican fighters again. Guerreros story along with being the mandatory, Floyds first fight out of jail, aging etc will be plenty of hype for thw casuals to chime in.

 

Exactly. But why would he fight somebody who had an easier time with Cotto than he did. Why would he fight a young guy with power and size advantages over him? He hasn't had stones since he moved up from lightweight.

 

Showtime isnt in the business of losing money...they're not gonna make alexander or garcia fights because they can't sell it. Floyd may have a contract but they'll delay putting on the show and theyll try to force the alvarez/trout winner until he finally takes it.

best case for floyd and showtime is that guerrero fights a close fight and they can push the rematch

 

Why not give those 140 heavy handed punchers like Garcia/Matthyse

Brawlers like Rios a chance?

Those guys are beasts and deserve a shot at Floyd

Thinking twice now, I want Floyd to fight at 154 but still.. that's not the weight division for him now.

Floyd vs Rios/Garcia/Matthyse/Peterson/Canelo/Trout/Pac/Martinez/Bradley/Even the winner of Brook/Alexander would be great.

 

None of those fights sell except the rios fight...Rios is with HBO and even if he wasnt bob isnt letting floyd make money off any of this fighter after he ducked pacmonster

 

I'd hope other Floyd fans would have enough confidence in him to want to see the Canelo-Trout winner, which is why I initially rated it a 9 for disappointment. He's come just about directly after the guy in my av, so the standards are pretty high I guess.

 

Canelo is maybe a 1/4in taller than cotto and maybe two lbs heavier in the ring

It'll sell pretty well. What'll be interesting is seeing how he's able to maintain it beyond May when he's presumably going to be more active, and won't be dipping completely out of the picture in relative silence for long periods of time -- which has made people talk about him even more -- that by the time he comes back, everybody gives in to see how he's going to look. He's been insanely successful at keeping himself fresh on a number of different levels.

Hatton was also the only time since 2007 that he wasn't fighting on or around Cinco de Mayo/Mexican Independence Day. Throw in how he cultivated a villain image, 24/7 build up, the speculation that a Pac fight was around the corner, The ZER0, etc and you have a wildly successful business model.

Outside of being a boxing fan, it's kind of difficult to not admire. You can't knock the hustle. Floyd's PPV average sales = Mike Tyson, and greater than DLH's/Pac's.
