I remember arriving at tysons hq 2 weeks before the second holy fight, he was fine, they sparred with Bray, Seales and Stan Allen, he grazed his brow an an elbow and it was hardly a scratch but Mike had arranged around the fight day to get married privately , and Jeff Fenech was gonna be there as witness.. they decided the cut was bad enuf to pull out but it was a tiny graze you couldn't even see it if u spoke to him.. The Mathis one upset me, a lot of good fights were almost shattered because ticket sales were slow due to making the fight the same night only 1 mile down the strip from Holy v Bowe 3.. The Bowe show sold out and Tysons cats did a cost cutting excersise 2 days before fight and came with a thumb injury.. MGM were gonna go with a loss otherwise, the fighters who almost lost big fights were .... Akinwande v Tucker.. Jerry Ballard v John Ruiz.... Buster himself was scared he may lose a great pay day.. Mike was a selfish ******* at times.........
To be Fair Ruddock Strugged with Bonecrusher. But yes Tyson knew that Ruddock was a quality fighter and knew that he couldn't half ass it. No one else seemed to want to fight Ruddock. Too much risk, without the the belt or massive payday.
