When I was younger I thought if you were a world champion boxer you would at least make a million dollars, but that was before I found out that there were at least 4 belts in each weight class and a lot more weight classes.

I know found out that many "champs" have 2 jobs (one being boxing). So my question is how many boxers make on avg 1 million dollars a fight.

I know the for sure ones Manny, Floyd, Cotto, the Klits, and Amir. But what about the likes of Chad Dawson, Andre Berto, Bradley, Alexander, Sergio Martinez, and Sergiy Dzinziruk.

I know most of the info is not made public but I remember an article saying that Paul Williams' first fight with Carlos Quintana, he made a little over 900,000.

at least they make more than those guys in MMA who have a greater chance of hurting themselves and little money. I wonder if the UFC has a disability pension?

None of these guys are making $1 mill a fight. However, if you make $200,000 a year in America, you're making more than 98% of the rest of the population. So a guy like Dawson may not be making $1 mill a fight, but he's making around $800k which is a ton of money. Most champs don't need a second job, and have plenty of money. There are still a few out there though who do.

True but boxers have a much shorter time period to make their money, I mean most of them wont be making good money past 35 years of age. And they run a good chance of injuring themselves. Spending much more on medical bills.

I'm not saying every boxer should get paid more, beacuse they choose this life for them. Its just that I don't think many boxers (champs) make enough money in their boxing career solely to live off of (assuming they live to 85 or 90 years of age).

Danny Green generates a ton of money. Roy got $4mill to fight him. That's $4 mill more than Roy got paid in his second fight to Hopkins.

They do, they just don't save their money properly. They spend as if they're going to keep getting those paychecks forvever. The average American makes around $2 mill(and that's being generous) in their lifetime. Most champs surpass that in career earnings. Most of them just don't save their money properly. If you don't know how to handle your money, you can go broke even if you make a ton of money.

Maybe the question should further be defined, mm: What fighter NETS one million for a fight? With every bottom feeder with their hand in his pocket, a fighter's lucky to walk away with bus fare.
