Show a bit of ambition and confidence and suddenly the great British public turn on you for being up your own arse. But if you're a Henry Cooper and peddle cheap aftershave for a living or you're like Frank Bruno and do Christmas panto then you're fine. God forbid if you've got a bit of talent and come a cropper.

    Pugilist know thy place.

I care not one way or the other. It was going to happen eventually so its better to get it out of the way against an unheralded opponent rather than suffering the media and fanboy bias for another year or two.

I find it irritating when fighters start spouting about how great they are, but it's standard and that doesn't really bother me. What sends me mad is when the British media bum a (typically) English fighter to the absolute hilt based upon absolutley nothing. It's disturbing the extent to which the media is allowed to induldge it's bias at the expense of the facts, and it is only with deep joy that I see these rights wronged.

But even then - Ian Darke is talking about how Khan should have been better protected. What?

If people spend long enough telling me something I know isn't true, I can't wait for that untruth to be revealed. It's a shame for the fighter, but he bottom-fed like a hungry pike. If he had played no part in it - shut the **** up, been humble, let the media do the work for him - I would have come to respect him. But his ego and Sky's publicity machine create a thing that just NEEDS to be smashed. And it was an epic relief when it was.

I just wish it had happened one fight earlier, saved a few of the boys a pound. Never mind.

Not in the least, espically since I, like most of the British fans on here get the satisfaction of having been right all along.

An Olympic silver medal is hardly nothing.

We have a free press here. They can print or say whatever they like within the law. There's nothing wrong with a bit of hype if you've got the sense to realise it's hype. This is a money business as you well know and bums on seats and in front of telly's generate shitloads of it if the promoter does his job.

If you accept that then I fail to see how the fighter should get the brunt of all the smug bull**** from posters on here. I'd much rather they took some delight at Frank Warren's **** up and the fact he will struggle to make a cent out of the multi-fight deal he's signed Khan up to. How can he be marketable now? The fighter, by and large, is only the ******. If you don't like the tune then complain to the organ grinder.

Yes, yes it is, it is in the proffesional ranks. Sky Sports and ITV were praising him as a proffessional fighter, not an amatuer. A silver medal indicates potentiol in the pro ranks, and literally nothing else. And as Harrison, and now Khan, have demonstrated, that potentiol has come to naught.

The distance between the amatuer and proffessional codes is huge now.

Again, the combination of Khan's big ****ing mouth and the media's coverage of his non-career made him unbearable to me. Said emotions led to my delight in seeing him KO'd.

Not a soul. His defeat was overshadowed by Andy Murray who beat Nadal to become the new Brit hero in the sports world of tennis. Murray's victory is huge and the Brits are now celebrating like crazy.

I was more pissed when he was given all the time the world to get back up against Limmond !

I think what annoyed knowledgable fans was that we all knew Khans chin was weak , the fact they kept feeding him super feathers with low to non existent KO ratios meant his team knew it , yet he talked himself up like the second coming of Ali !

I assume you weren't a fan of Muhammad Ali either? Not to mention Bernard Hopkins or Hasim Rahman?

Kinda sad to see him lose so badly,

But at the same time hilarious. Warren steps him up to PPV and he gets iced in less than a minute, that is some quality match making there. Franks normally very cautious, I'm suprised he put such a bit puncher in with Khan.
