My assumption was that Prescott's was a padded record - and to an extent it was if you look at the number of near-novices on it - designed to make the fight look interesting and make a Khan victory appear significant. It was far more interesting and significant than any of us could have imagined.

 

Pretty sure Geoffrey Hatton's widow Moyra (who is British) didn't lose any sleep over Khan's knock down.

im sure she didnt, and what happened there was truly awful. But that could have happened to anyone, and unlike naseem hamed who left his victim for dead and ran away, after hitting his victims car at 100mph, Im sure Amir Khan was genuinely saddened about the whole affair. Eubank killed a workman in his car too and showed **** all remorse about it.

 

Was under the impression Eubanks crash was put down to a fault with the Range Rover he was driving. Didn't Eubank put significant money into charity projects for the homeless etc? Yes Khans crash could of happened to anyone who travels on the wrong side of the road, well over the speed limit and through a red light. How it was declared "careless" as opposed to "dangerous" driving beats me. Even Andrew Ridgley would appear to be a good driver when compared to hit and run Hamed.

 

I'm glad he got exposed it was coming for a long time and now the ridiculous hype can end once and for all.

I wasn't buying the PPV until my mates persuaded me with curry and beer and it turned out the best £15 I've spent all year watching that glass jaw hype job struggling to get off the canvas after 50 seconds.

Amir Khan is just a kid, when he won silver he was an even younger kid. Considering the hype from media and the public during the Olympics, then uncle Frank's arrival, it shouldn't shouldn't surprise anybody that this not-too-bright youngster has become somewhat removed from reality.

I've always wanted him to lose, partly because I wanted to be proved right and partly because it's the only interesting outcome that can happen in such mis-matches. I also always feel sorry for the loser, Amir Khan is not an exception.

 

I`m British and very patriotic, but I`ve never been a fan of Khan.
He runs his mouth yet he can`t back it up. Fighting bums all through his career and finally being found out for the pretender he really is.

People compared him early on in his career to Naseem Hamed which is an insult to the Prince.
Naz was a devastating puncher at featherweight and he had a great chin.

I agree with you there.... But have to say Khan was not that talented....was fighting smaller guys who were over the hill and was being rocked. Then he would have the audacity to say things like "I can beat pacqiao"

He hadn't proven himself to the naysayers, and was talking big.... most other boxers at least try to prove there speech in some way.... can was ober protected and then exposed

Bruno was loved long before he really had his biggest fights. Apparently it didn;t matter if he won or lost. Lewis was not taken too much notice of early on and later people took more notice and he is well-respected.

If you can pick examples like that you can say that Americans love losers and hate winners. They adore Gatti and hate Mayweather...

Of course that would be a wrong conclusion. Gatti is not oved because he loses but because he has an exciting style. Mayweather is not disliked because he wins but because he is a *****.
