they definatley can compete/ imo just not be dominant. historically when the smaller weight fighters like foster/spinks came up there punchs had lerss effect and they were fighting 210/220 6.3 max type fighters so the weight difference from 175 would be about the same as the 199 moving up fighting the 250lbs fighters. david haye at 6.3 and i forget his weight 222lb or something like that could not get inside the jab of klitchko and played it safe on the outside / he is about as hard punching and big a cruiserweight is going to get. its the height of this current crop of heavys. vitali was 6.8 wlad 6.6 fury 6.9 joshua 6.6 wilder 6.7 its hard giving away the height /reach and physcial strength to these men. ive used it before as an example tyson fury v steve cunningham. cunningham at 6.3 and 210 used his natural speed advantage v the much bigger man/ gave him problems with this foot and handspeed advantage that he had. in round 7 fury solved the problem by using his huge size advantage to littrally shove and manhandle cunningham 6 feet across the ring into the ropes and before cunningham could get his feet and balance fury clumped him with a right hand and cunningham was kod for the only time in his career. for a smaller lighter crusierweights they have to fight the perfect fight with no mistakes for 12 rounds when in v the really big heavys. especially if the big heavy thinks they cant hurt them / they will try to walk through them .
You know guys that usyk gave wlad hell in sparring... Usyk Beat the **** out of superheavys in the Amateurs, medhzidov, Joyce, yoka and co. Usyk is the real deal and everyone will See it AS soon as He moves Up. I am pretty sure that he will school aj, Parker and the rest
Yeah, agreed on the question marks on all of them. My thing is you've basically got about 5 shws who have done enough to give hope they could be great. Chances are at least one of them will. But yeah, the division self destructed so badly after the first Povetkin doping scandal last year, when it was looking so promising, who knows, maybe all the top shws will self destruct. Maybe Wlad beats AJ, retires, and the rest beat each other constantly and no one stands out. In that scenario, maybe if Usyk is at Holyfield level, he could establish himself as the best. That's just alot of things that need to go right for him though, and it would be fairly unprecedented historically. So count me a doubter until he proves otherwise.
That's a fair assessment. We have to wait and see what happens at HW, personally I think it's in poor shape at the moment but hopefully it starts to sort itself out in 2017.
Huck Usyk Breidis Glowacki Lebedev potentially (he's a bit faded now) Some of the bigger punching guys like Makabu and Kudryashov could translate up to heavy, though Makabu is a shade on the short side
All of them actually. They're only separated by a pound realistically but guys like USYK and Gassiev could grow into the weight in no time.
Oh, I'm not calling this 100%, just my gut feeling that's how Joshua would tackle this. I guess it's easier to close the distance with a significant height and reach advantage, so who Usyk has fought before and how they have approached it doesn't help us with this one.
Joshua was beaten to bits by much smaller Nistor.Wilder was knocked out cold by much smaller Evgeny Romanov in amateurs.
Okolie is leaning towards heavyweight switch, Yoka will sign with Haymon or Arum, futueso it is looking good forfuture and there is much talent in heavyweight division if you look closer.
