Well, I have made a list of 29 Cuban boxers campaigning at the pro level. Do you guys know if there are more Cubans to add to this list? I am talking about Cubans that have defected from the Cuban Team and not Cubans born in the USA. I didn't include Juan Carlos Gomez nor Casamayor as they are way past their prime already...

    Here's the list ...

    Odlanier Solis
    Rances Barthelemy
    Angelo Santana
    Stalin Lopez
    Yordenis Ugas
    Yasmany Consuegra
    Pedro Rodriguez

    Luis Ortiz

    Inocente Fiss

    Glendy Hernandez

    Vilier Quinones
    Yuniesky Gonzalez
    Puro pairol
    Kadel Luis
    Yoandri Salinas

    Humberto Savigne
    Ismaikel Perez
    Sullivan Barrera
    Erislandy Lara
    Yudel Johnson
    Yunier Dorticos
    Yuriorkis Gamboa
    Yoelvis Gamboa
    Guillermo Rigondeaux
    Yordanis Despaigne
    Luis Garcia
    Alexei Acosta
    Luis Franco
    Yoan Pablo Hernandez

Who am I missing ? :huh

He is the Cuban ESB king, and after half of century without representation, we should support our boxers, I had been rooting for PR and Mexicans over 50 years (I'm not going to stop rooting for them) and now I have over two dozen Cuban fighters, that I can root for, very excited.

I remember when my username was JAYCUBAN here, How I was talking about Rigondeaux , Gamboa and Solis years before they defected.

I remember even making a thread about Rigondeaux "the greatest amateur to never turn pro"

Its funny how things have changed since then, I have since met Rigondeaux and I'm working on a documentary on him based on the book by my friend and writer Bin Friesen

Oh so your Jaycuban? Welcome back man. I was wondering why i hadnt seen much of you lately. Sonofcuba was taking over for you it seemed. Yes i do remember you giving us the inside info.

Im a little disappointed with Rigondeaux though in his last fight. I talked him up big to my friends and fam. He was living up to it until he got dropped. He needs to be a little more aggresive. The dude definately does have skills though. Defensive as well as offensive. Those body punches are wicked.
I thought he was gonna stop Cordoba with those shots then once he got dropped he retreated too much.

Only some other Cubans are missing from this list, the one who were not registered as Cubans by boxrec, the most prominent ones being:
    Brunet Zamora and Peter Quillin

Yeah I'm still around, but I totally agree with you in regards to Rigo's last fight bro, I also talked him up big time before the fight and my friends kind of looked at me weird, but he at least made sure to win his first title convincingly, maybe he would have pleased the fans by trading punches the whole fight and who knows maybe we would have been knocked out and his hype gone down the drain. I think he will be impressive in his next fight and make people forget about this past one.

I like Ronnie Shields as a trainer, but there is no doubt in my mind that he was better of with Freddie Roach, hes offense can't look any better cause its prefect but Freddie would have him executing his skills a lot better than Shields has.

I spoke with Freddie 2 weeks before Pacquiao/Margarito and when Rigo's name came up in our conversation... he smiled, put his head down then told me "he's one of a kind... but he has bigger issues than boxing to deal with (and told me about them), it was sad to see him go, but he'll be alright he's one a kind"
