Ramos vs Moore was very infamous. And Griffith never wanted to kill Paret. To word it as you did can be misleading.
Lupe Pintor vs Johnny Owen for the Bantamweight title, i remember reading once that Owen had an unusually delicate skull but a strong chin. So when Pintor hit Owen with that infamous right hand, he pushed his jawbone through his skull and into his brain, so maybe Owen should of never of been a boxer what a tragedy.
I don't think Griffith wanted to kill Paret but I think his anger in that moment got the better of him and I believe he was looking for revenge. It's the referee's responsibility to step in and stop a fight and Goldstein should have done so much sooner but, in a situation like that, I think a boxer should also show some common sense and compassion when an opponent is clearly beaten. Paret was unconscious, leaning halfway out of the ring with only the ropes holding him up. He was clearly beaten, yet Griffith kept punching. I'm probably going to get flak for saying this but I've had an issue with Griffith since watching the fight and I regard his claims that he would have stopped punching if he knew Paret was hurt as a downright lie because Paret was very obviously hurt.
