How many divisions can you name where there is a obvious #1 worldwide?

    for me, only heavyweight and light flyweight. but even there it is not easy, because even now vitaly could beat his brother and roman gonzales never faced the top 5 from boxrec as for now. also Kazuto Ioka may move up and looks like one of the best prospects in all of boxing.

    cruiserweight-ross hernandez was a draw in my eyes. than there is lebedev

    lh-well what would happen if ward moved up. can shumanov beat dawson?

    light middleweight-mayweather is the best, if he fights, is he retired or not. is canelo young and fresh enough to beat the aging superstar?

    super featherweight is a lock, no one is better than uchiyama, since broner left

    Its hard to say Floyd is #1 at 154 though because we dont know if he will stay at 154 or 147. Even if he can give a run to anyone at 154, his weight class will most likely stay at 147. His weight class is not 154.

    He beat the best 154 4 months ago with relative ease. It's very easy to deduce that he is in fact the top dog in both 147 and 154.

    i think the cotto fight was unique to why it happened at 154.

    but yeah, id say Mayweather is #1 Welterweight, not 154, but it could be argued that his the best in both.

    if the superfight happens, im sure it will be at welterweight, both there divisions.

    I agree, he has only fought twice at the weight (I think?) so its hard to judge

    Martinez and Ward are the obvious omissions from the OP.

    just 2 divisions in 16 divisions. I hate boxing for that, if more big fights would be made, rigondeaux-donaire/garcia-matthysse/mayweather-canelo we would know for sure who the best in the world is. right now, even those 2 divisions, ward never faced direll, martinez never golovkin we don't know for sure who the #1 is. isn't that sad.

    154 canelo, lara would give floyd a run for his money, also I think he beats them, but he should face them.

    Floyd is clearly the best at 147. Manny took a loss to Marquez about 10 months ago and if you say he won this then well he took a loss to Tim Bradley at 147, 3 months ago.

    Either way he lost. Floyd has dominated fighters and has not fought #6 rated Clottey's or Mosley's nor unranked fighters such as Margarito at any weight.

    You have to go back to 2005 to find the last time Floyd fought anyone ranked outside the top 10 and/or top 3 in his division. You can go back to last May 2011 and see the last time Manny took on someone ranked outside the top 3 (Shane was 5 by Ring and 6 by ESPN and SI). Not to mention unranked fighters who are horribly skilled like Margarito.

    Floyd at 147 should he choose to move back down.
