Just curious… about how many fights do you watch every week? I’m talking live on TV. Since boxing is mainly a weekend sport these days, we only have so much time for live boxing. But with so many viewing options, we can see more bouts than ever. Obviously, some weeks offer more fights than others. So I’m looking for an average. I’m guessing some just watch the biggest fights while others watch every telecast and stream they can, from the undercard to the main event. I’ll do a poll for those that don’t have the time to write a post. And if you want to elaborate or reminisce about the good old days, I’d love to read your stories.
Probably like 2 a week not counting live fights. This week I watched Lomachenko-Commey and Beterbiev-Browne.
Only the big ones when they're live. The historical ones that pique my interest I watch regular highlights on Youtube.
Depends on the week. Some weeks zero. However, when I watch a card (which is usually at least once a week), I usually watch all the fights that are televised. Seems like at least 3 and often more per. Some weeks I'll watch 2 or more cards. Guessing my average to be 5+. On the other hand, some fights I'm not 100% watching, so... make of that data dump what you will, lol.
When I was a kid I’d watch whatever was on. Many weekends it was two to four quality fights on the network anthology shows. Maybe a prime time card with at least two fights, headlined by a heavyweight title fight. As a younger adult, in the 90’s, I probably watched more fights on a weekly basis between USA’s Tuesday Night Fights and ESPN weekly cards, but the major championships moved to pay per view and I rarely paid for those. Nowdays I read the forums more than I watch the current fights, but if something is on I may tune in. I probably watch more old fights on YouTube than current boxing.
Zero,0. I havent watched TV since 2004, and i dont have TV in the house. Internet live, boxing history, highlights.... One fight a day.
I've always enjoy boxing and other sports, balanced against an active social life, but I've sank to incredible lows of degeneracy since 2020. My living room has become like NORAD or the NYSE with my wife and I scanning college football and boxing across several different screens to see what goes onto our actual television. It's a sickness and one I never had pre-2020. It's nuts to me the people who are really into a fight and they saunter into the stadium/put on the TV about 30 seconds before the bell. What if you're late? For me a card is a unit and I only break it up if it's terrible or something very good is on elsewhere. The energy in the buildup is half the fun and I believe it really does affect the outcome (at the margins).
