Yeah I guess. I can't comment because I've never even had 1! I just figured that someone would be able to remember their record, but maybe some guys don't really care.
I had 4 fights: 1 W - 3 L I had mine 4th fight last saturday, i've lost but like Super_Fly_Sam said i had a great experience and i had fun!!! It was a good fight. boxepert: what's your real name?
bobby, did you only had 11 amateurs fight before you went pro??? i always tought you needed a lot more experience before you turn pro?
des, it is the norm to have more fights, but there are plenty of good pros that had limited or no amatuer experience, personally i had no interes tin amatuer boxing and didnt see the point compared to the pros where you get money and more glory
my amateur record is about 60 wins, 5 draws the rest defeats by points. my pro record is: 7 win (6KO),3 draws,1 defeat ( althougs very close and happened in russia with three russian judges and a russian referee)
to become a well skilled boxer, one should have at least 100-130 amateur fights and some international experience. i met a legend in germany who has 648!! amateur fights....almost hard to believe, but true
I wouldn't say that many fights or international experience is a prequisite, but it certainly helps having that many amateur bouts, or at least above 50, before turning pro. I don't su ppose it was Dick Mctaggart you met, was it?
no,it was werner schaefer. a german amateur legend. he lost 3:2 against sugar ray leonard at MSG. that was in the late sixties,i believe. i have to ask aidensdad1127 my name is Max Gusset Kolya if you are really serious about boxing,as a junior boxer you should have already 50-80 fights.as a senior about the same,at least. an amateur career should be considered as a study time,to fill your backpack with all kind of experiences and skills. also, your durability should increase along with your record. as a pro, your study time is over and then you do master your skills from opponent to opponent. a boxer can only be built up with victories, so at the beginning you face opponents you can beat and then gradually improve.
50-100 yes. In some cases even less. 10-30 fights. Depends on your natural ability. 648 is waayy too much if you want to turn pro. ****, your best years is already past you after 648 fights. Pro careers can be shortened by lengthy amateur careers. Just keep that in mind.
it depends. too many amateur fights might do that. 648 is definitely way too much, yes. between 100-180 is a good value
@GlassyEyes: How many fights did you had? And are you pro? It sounds like you know alot about boxing! (based on your reaction in de running topic)
i am not going to have any amateur fights before turning pro, but i feel as if i have tons of natural ability. what i have can not be taught, but i am still a student of the game and i have sparred and worked on things. i believe study time is never over in boxing, there's always something to work on.
