That's an awesome record man :good What's your name if you don't mind me asking? What weight are you fighting at?
its easy to see who has a solid amateur background and who not. you learn your skills while being amateur,as a pro you make it work perfect. every serious fighter should turn pro after winning some international tournaments. best is,of course have participated on the olympics and/or world championship. not every fighter has the possibility to do that,so at least some tournaments should have been won to have gained some kind of experience. everything else is just nonsense-how do you want to be successful as a pro if you havent beat any average amateur boxer? its funny to see how many people in here are lost in reverie...
I was scottish jnr champ 5 yrs in row represented scotland in euro jnrs won gold at gaelic games as jnr,won scottish snrs, represented scotland at olympic qualifiers/euro qualifiers 2000,won spanish box am 2002,scotland rep at euro snrs 2002,boxed in about 20 internationals all in
couldnt give accurate answer 2 that, hundreds of amateurs and maybe bout 80 pros thats just a guess tho,in the british ratings there 15 scottish boxers in the top 10 through all the weights.
i'll be fighting in the heavyweight division just for reference. if i was a run of the mill guy physically, then i probably would have never even considered boxing because i started late at 20. the fact that i'm older is a big contributing factor that i'm going pro right off the bat. besides, i will gain experience in the pro ranks the same way i would in the amateur ranks. i don't know if you looked around lately, but boxers that are not in the top 20 are usually really bad. i'm not going to be fighting boxers that are even in the top 50 when i start boxing. i'm sure i'll be on the same level as the people they match me with. so, i will hone my skills on these lower talented guys until i feel like i am ready to step up. simple as that.
He might not have said much, but he's right. At least have 10-20 amateur fights first just to get used to being in the ring.
he is not right in assuming that i'm not going to be a successful boxer just because i do not have any amateur experience. And i can get used to being in the ring as a professional.
Ok, don't listen to any of us who have boxed before. Have fun getting to 5-0 if you're lucky and then being fed to someone who has amateur experience as cannon fodder in their pro debut.
